What do you think?

Post by guffair25 » Fri Jun 16, 2006 11:49 am

I have Megascenery Pacific Northwest installed, with FLight Enviornment and Ultimate Night Enviornment, I also use FS real world weather. Hopefully I'm going to get the Fly Tampa Seattle, what FPS, do you think I should expect. I get pretty good as is.

AMD64X2 4200+ Dual Core
1 gig DDR memory
250Gig Hard Drive
PNY GeForce 6800GS Overclocked

One more thing? Little Rock National Airport services all the United States, with nonstop flights to New York, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago, and other major airports. I was wondering, have you guys thought of doing an airport that is not an International airport, but a National airport, like "KLIT" Little Rock. Thanks everyone!! (This isnt a scenery request since I've seen people smashed about it, Just wondering if a National or Regional airport has been thought about)

You should be good for 20+ fps with that setup. It all depends on your slider positions. It wouldn't be to hard to squeeze 30 out of it.

Gary from OSS is already working on Little Rock.

Im trying to fix my graphics card driver right now. Ive been having texture problems with the 84.85, Im going to try the 81.98. Do you have any suggestions on to one that will work for sure. Ive been running wild trying them all.

What kind of texture problems?

I'm still using the 84.21 driver. There is the all new 91.31 driver in Nvidia's Beta section.

I also seemed to have trouble with the new drivers. I recently went back to the 81.98 and has seemed to give the FPS that I used to have.

Well it does it on everygame. I went back to the 81.98. And the same thing is going on. What it is, is like after 5 seconds of starting FS, well starting my flight at the airport. It doesnt do it at the main menu odly. I get these red squiggle lines that flash across the screen. And an annoying loud buzzing noise comes though the speekers. I've also tried to lower the hardware acceleration but to no aval. The same thing happens. I would take a screenshot, but I cant do anything. I can't exit the game, it's like the whole computer is frozen. I'm guessing now, that there could be a problem with the card itself, but then again. Different things sort of happend in different games I have. I also have Battlefield 2. Sometimes it does it, and sometimes it will work for awhile then just kick you out of the game and the whole game shuts down. But it always happens if FS. You guys have any ideas?
The card is a PNY GeForce 6800GS Overclocked

BTW, does anyone know where I can find replacement AI traffic textures that are lower in texture size (which would increase frames)?

What are you using now? Try http://www.ai-aardvark.com and http://www.evolveai.com. Packages from the two can be found at http://www.world-of-ai.com/.

It literally doesn't get any better than these two. Qualitywise and performance wise you can't go wrong here. Anyone that tells you otherwise doesn't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.[/url]

I think he's talking about the 32/64bit/DXT/something arguement, or whatever the two options are, where one gives you supposedly better FPS, but lower quality, and the other less FPS but better quality textures=nicer looking. Can anyone elaborate on what I am trying to say?

Most AIA paints are DXT anyways.

Well it is my very first airport and I am working alone.

So I hope you will not laugh when I can get it done. I am trying my best. Just because I carry the OSS name on my airport dosent make me fall into their past on releasing things sir.

Thanks

I'll believe OSS's claims of 10+ new airport projects when I see any one of them get released. OSS are currently the masters of vaporware and I don't know how they can afford to pay the bills by promising scenery and never putting anything up for sale.
