So Far... So Good.... Loving EHAM at MSFS

Post by baires » Sun Oct 08, 2023 1:53 pm

Hi Emilios and FT Team!!!

Amazing work.... superb well done to finally have EHAM at MSFS... Already flew into it from OSL and now, back at cruise level returning to ENGM for the last days of 737 operations with SAS.

Nevertheless, let me comment some points that could be worked around on Version 1.5 or 2.0 of EHAM MSFS.

1) Line of trees alongside taxiway V, between VL and VM. So far, the line of trees are of irregular and kind of small trees, while in reality, the tree line is quite homogeneous.

2) Lamp Lights from the Highways - those seems to be duplicated and produces a heavy line of yellow lights, that looks like too much... Hope something can be done about it...

3) Taxi lines and marks. I like the old and kind of outworn yellow lines and taxiway markings, even more making a huge contrast with the new pieces of taxiways, amazing level of detail. Even though, by looking at videos, it looks like Amsterdam Schiphol airport spends some money in keeping those marks like new, as seen in this video: https://youtu.be/hy9CmJtqc40?t=631

Would it be possible to get better looking taxiway lines?? Or at least an option to switch between versions??

4) Following on Runway 18L - there seems to be a lack of runway lights. It's like a black hole between the runway threshold until more or less intersection with taxiway E3-E9.

As per this video too, it's clear that there are lights in that area. https://youtu.be/hy9CmJtqc40?t=671

5) Finally, I love the addition of the new taxiways A and B between A28 and A29 - and may I guess that terrain elevation is a hard issue to fix, but trying to cross the bridge of the taxiway B, resulted in a crazy bump that almost leads me to a crash... hahahaha!

Thank you so much!! The performance is amazing... I love the detail of having the McDonald's spotters place.. and for sure, will keep exploring the great airport scenery you have produced!

Warm regards and have a nice week!!

Oh... I've missed 2 other points.

1) Runway 18R - Centerline seemed to be quite displaced from Runway Center Lights. It made me go cross-eyed since could't get it centered... either runway lights or runway marks...

Actually.. they are quite aligned: https://youtu.be/7g0xL88ebXs?t=420

2) Could we get Nool Aerosystems into the ship, in order to get their great VDGS tool in FlyTampa's EHAM??

Thank you so much once again!!

That first screenshot it beautiful even though the trees aren't quite the right size.

I asked Martin and Emilios last year in this thread viewtopic.php?p=72801. Unfortunately they ignored my post :(

Congrats on the release of this LONG awaited scenery. I'm impressed , it looks very good, happy with the result.

On the feedback side, I have noticed one item to fix so far in a future update:

The runway intersections of 18C/36C recently got a renaming. Previously the had the same name on both sides of the runway, now the entries on the WEST side have got their own names. So
W5 was the main crossing both ways previously, now its W5 on the east side, the west side of the same intersection is now called W13.

Thanks Emilios. To expand on the bump on the new TWY Bravo bit reported above: The HUGE (almost crash-causing) bump is right at the west end of 'new Bravo, just of the A27/Z/B intersection. There is a further smaller bump on B just before it merges into Q, and Q itself is also a bit 'wobbly' . see the attached chart. The purple is the really problematic bit.

Thanks for the xtra info. Looks like the virtual platforms misbehave, especially while taxiing on a slope, which is required for entering. working on it.

Yeah can confirm that, out of nowhere, I got yeeted back into the orbit, after I got sent around there by ATC. It looks like, that the edge wall of the highway below, is clipping through the taxiway, after the left turn onto the bridge, coming from the runway-parallel part of B.

Hi Frank!! Thank you so much!! Indeed, those details is what makes EHAM a very nice airport to spend the day outdoors. Another gorgeous line of trees, are the ones located alongside the channel that crosses under Taxiway V ->

Best regards! Rafael

First off, I like the EHAM scenery.
Overall, it's good for a mega hub.

There are a few items that haven't been mentioned yet that I think can take this scenery from 'good' to 'great'.
  • There are no people in the terminal buildings, static or moving. As we can see into the terminal interiors, people models/textures would improve this.
    Image
  • There is no or very little moving traffic airside.
If concerned with performance, at least some of the static vehicle models airside could have their amber lights flashing to give the appearance of life on the apron.
  • At a distance, the canals have jagged edges and appear out of aligment with the underlyng ground imagery in separate rectangles.
This is jarring on final approach to the Polderbaan / Rwy 18R.

    Image
  • The blue taxiway edge lighting appears very late on the entirety of taxiway Zulu, including Z1 and Z2.

    Image
  • Over at the GA apron / Kilo stands, the exterior fencing stops by the orange arrow in the image below.

    Image
  • There are two rows of fences, one separating the aircraft stands from the car park and another lower one separating the car park from the exterior road.
Here's a streetview image of what the fencing should look like.

    Image
  • Lastly, as it's rather prominent, it would be nice to have the Fokker tailplane statue modelled and placed at the position shown by the blue arrow in the screenshot above.

    Image

Relatively small additions/changes that would elevate this scenery, IMO.

Hi F737NG!! I'm also having issues with the jagged edges....

And regarding the Fokker Tail -> please take a look at my latest post: viewtopic.php?t=36774

Some shots regarding the bridge from v1.1. As you can see, the edge-wall of the highway, up the embankment is clipping through the bridge. Also the embankment itself, is not really sticking to the wall. The slope up from the RWY 36C side is quite smooth now. Down to TWY-Q there is still a small bump, where the aircraft dips slightly to the left for a moment.

Image

On the TWY-B Bridge itself, down to TWY-Q, the aircraft is sunk into the bridge a little bit.
