Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
@emilios[flytampa]
Ok, so now the ILS Localizers are good, thats a nice improvement.
But the field elevation is an issue. Since the FlyTampa places the entire facility on a flat plane (as old flight sims would probably want) the 26L and R touch down zones are way too high elevation, and thus the GS kills you.
26L is about 2060 real world, and with the fly tampa mod its closer to 2200.
I know there is an issue with 3rd parties trying to use flat airports in MSFS and I guess the tools don't exist for you to follow the ground contour as the MSFS original airports do, so you have a problem there I bet.
My suggestion would be that since 26L and R are the most commonly used approaches at KLAS, that you should adjust your field elevation to be the touchdown zone elevation of those runways (2060ish feet). This would cause the most commonly used runways to start working properly again. The price would be that the 01/19 runways would be lower than they should be, but this would be better than the current situation for a few reasons...1) If you break out of clouds higher than expected above the ground, you're not dead 2) the 01/19s are RNAV approaches anyhow and expected to be less accurate vertically... 3) 01/19 are less frequently in use.
I hope you'll consider this until there is a way for you to properly set the place up on a slope as it really is.

I agree, this is a good overview of what’s going on with KLAS 26 runways. There is a wip update which should fix the ILS and glideslope issue, without needing to manipulate the terrain.

The ILS/GS fix is complete and will be implemented in the next update cycle.
Re: Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
Even though 1.6 is released via your installer, the MSFS Marketplace is 'stuck' on the old 1.5.x version (?) How can I please get 1.6 so I won't have the GS issue on RWY 26L and R? Please??
Re: Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
Unfortunately MS is incredibly slow at updating content in Marketplace, which is why I always buy direct.
Re: Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
This finally deployed to Marketplace (1.6.0), but sorry, the GS is not corrected. It is improved a bit, but the GS brings you down right at the beginning of the pavement (in the displaced threshold) of 26R... It does not bring you to the correct touchdown location.emilios[flytampa] wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 3:37 am The ILS/GS fix is complete and will be implemented in the next update cycle.
On 26L it brings you down short of the runway in the approach lighting.
The Localizer seems good, its still the GS that is a problem.

Not seeing this here. Have you tried re-booting MSFS after updating, or deleting content.xml before re-starting the sim?
Re: Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
Yes, I had not deleted Content.xml, but did today and the problem is still present... I have made a quick video to demonstrate and you can find that at this linkemilios[flytampa] wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 3:44 pm Not seeing this here. Thanks.
Re: Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
Has anything further been figured out regarding the erroneous G/S on 26L? Just bought the scenery and while everything looks great that G/S with the latest 1.6 updated version of KLAS installed is still wrong for me? Tried deleting content.xml etc and no luck
Re: Las Vegas 1.5.1 MSFS Incorrect Elevation (thus bad GS)
Just a quick update from me on this. After a bit of experimentation I'm wondering if the fact that I had KLAS on another drive with a symbolic link to the community folder was causing the issue? Might be reaching here, but I did an uninstall of KLAS then cleared the content.xml again then reinstalled it direct to the MSFS community folder and now the G/S for the 26's are functioning as they should. Maybe it was just flushing that content.xml that did it but it didn't work when I tried that before.Mridout wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 11:49 am Has anything further been figured out regarding the erroneous G/S on 26L?
