Emilios/Martin/George's statement on Microsoft Flight SImulator?
FlyTampa is one of the developers who have yet to make a statement on the new upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Emilios/Martin/George what are you hoping from a large airport developer point of view on the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator?

+1
I would be interested too by a statement, even short.

We don't know much more than you guys at this early stage. The trailer was spectacular and we'd love to develop for it.

Compared with FSX/P3Dv4 SDK, what are the main things you want Microsoft to do to make your job of creating high quality airports easier?george[flytampa] wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 6:50 pm We don't know much more than you guys at this early stage. OP,
Perhaps I have missed something, but I've checked most major scenery designers web pages (+forums) and have not seen a statement from anyone. Are these "statements" being released elsewhere? As George alluded to, the paint on this trailer is still drying, it might be a tough commit right of the gate. I will say that the initial footage does indeed look promising. I think many are wondering/hoping that MS will make developing 3rd party content for their sim as user friendly as possible for developers.

No one is asking FlyTampa to commit to the MSFS platform but you can still have an opinion about what direction Microsoft should go on and what features etc. that should be in it.As George alluded to, the paint on this trailer is still drying, it might be a tough commit right of the gate.

Absolutely. I don't believe I was challenging anyone's freedom of opinion, but rather just speculating...as we all are at this point.you can still have an opinion
Thank you for the link.

I think you have completely misunderstood what has been said here. FlyTampa have been in the airport addon business for a long time and have extensive experience with Flight Sim SDKs and they can have an opinion about what they would want to see in the MSFS SDK without committing themselves to the platform.pingponggame wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 3:22 pmAbsolutely. I was listening to a FS podcast ages ago and they had a flight sim developer talking about developing on the P3D SDK, he said that getting textures/buildings to look right in the simulator required a lot of hacks and workarounds. I'm hoping that Microsoft has written the MS SDK in a way so that it is a lot easier to create high quality airports.

I suppose a misunderstanding, it had been a long week at that point.

I understand your point in regards to developers opinions. Perhaps my usage of "commit" was a bit ambiguous. I have long hoped for a platform that sought the opinions of 3rd party developers, and catered their SDK to fit their needs. There have been strides since the days of FS9, but I'm sure any developer would admit it could always be better (as your P3D example noted). A partnership of some fashion could eliminate the need for hacks and workarounds, which subsequently could result in higher quality products at a faster clip. A more dynamic SDK may also open the potential for new developers to arrive and produce for this amazing community.

It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out. I think MS has the ability to reassert themselves back into the community not just on namesake, but especially if it prioritizes 3rd party development. Competition can be a great thing, and ultimately we as the consumer benefit because of it (knock on wood).

Two big thumbs up @pingponggame ;)

@Michaelhunse
E3 is many multiples in size larger in target audience than a FS Expo will ever be. That's just the reality - a few hundred million gamers vs. a few hundred thousand flight simmers.
Plus, what percentage of flight simmers do you think are still unaware that Microsoft is making a new sim?
