Problems with fingers, "Saltholm" island and approach rwy 12

Post by Nils_93 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 6:51 pm

Hello guys,

I have recently purchased your Copenhagen scenery and it is fantastic. Especially the night lighting is just phenomenal! As an information, when I purchased the scenery version 1.1 was already released, so I never had anything older than version 1.1 installed and since my purchase I havent updated the scenery.

However I do have some issues. Lets start with the least annoying one. I have the same issues with the flickering saltholm island, described in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=7003
I do not use any other add-on airports in the area of Copenhagen and I also don´t use any global texture and/or mesh add-ons. In fact FlyTampas Copenhagen is my only add-on scenerie in denmark. The closest add-on scenery to Copenhagen I use would be Aerosofts Mega Airport Berlin.

Issue number two is related with the gates. First off, some are simply missing parts. I don´t know why, they are either missing random parts of the finger, or the whole finger isn´t there at all. I do not use AES or GSX.

Furthermore I noticed when using CTRL+J to connect to the finger, that the wheels are falling into the ground, as soon as the gate moves backwards. As long as it moves forwards everything is fine, but once it moves backwards the wheels literally fall into the ground.

Also I am confused by the sign placed in front of gate B10. Are those correct? Because as soon as I taxi into the gate, I either hit the sign or chances are high that one of them would be sucked into the engine. Or am I missing some information here? Just seems weird to me.

Issue number three is the most annoying to me. I don´t know why, but whenever I approach RWY 12 I have some extremly strong thermal upwinds on short-final. They actually make it impossible to safely land on that rwy :? I just approached that rwy with the PMDG 777F with full payload and a bit of fuel. It was an ILS approach and everything was fine until approx. 2.5 DME. Suddenly the upwinds kicked so hard in, that I had to abbort the landing. However, once I clear the last bridge before the runway the winds are gone and the plane suddenly goes downwards crazy fast (more than - 3000 fpm). I thought this would be an issue of my weather engine (FS Global Real Weather) so I turned it off, but it is still happening. Its really frustrating, as the approach onto rwy 12 is really great (over the city), but due to the weird upwinds I can´t use that rwy atm.

I really hope you can help me! I have already reinstalled the scenery once. but I still have those issues. Therefore I would love to get some help. Thank you and best regards,

Nils

Thanks.

First, run FlyTampa-Configurator. Make sure the panel 'Apron detail' is set to 'Normal'. Then grab the attached file and unzip it. Then, drop all contents into FlyTampa-Copenhagen\scenery\ (replace all when asked).

This just fixed the annoying signs in front of B10.

Now:

Issue number 1: Is this happening permanently, or goes off immediately afterwards?

Issue number 2: The missing jetways is because your scenery density is set to a low value. Try increasing scenery density slider.

Issue number 3: When the jetways are retracted, the wheels sink into the ground. This is a 'bug' that cannot be avoided in custom animated jetways. If you use AES however, jetway retraction works without this small bug.

Issue number 4: That, I don't know much about; perhaps someone who has better knowledge on weather systems might have some idea? doubt this has anything to do with our Copenhagen files though.

Hi Emilios,

unfortunatley there are still some issues with the gates.

The fix for B10 worked just fine, thanks.
However I crancked up the "Apron detail" density to "high" (highest possbile setting) and I still have issues with:

To clarify any questions regarding my configuration, this is how my FlyCopenhagen is configured atm:

Regarding the wind issue I contacted the developer off the weather engine to hear his opionon on this one. The issue with saltholm island happens right away. However, if you fly really low and slow above it (~60 knots at 500 feet) its ok. But once you are higher and faster, i.e. on short final for 22L with PMDGs 777, its flickering. I personally don´t think its an performance issue, since I run FSX of a dedicated 512 GB SSD with an i5 4670K and a GeForce GTX 970.

Thanks for your help so far, I hope we can get the other stuff solved aswell :)

Best regards,

Nils

I order to see jetways put your "Scenery Complexety" in FSX Setting to "Dense" or even higher.

Hi Johnny,

thanks for the input, I think this will be helpful. I though you guys were talking about the condig tool, not fsx settings itself. Ok, I will check those next time I fire up FSX. Thanks!

DKPilot, try to clear your internet cache. Usually that will help on such things.
