Hi Martin.. I''m using FS2002, and everything with KMIA is working fine, but just found a little problem, has to do with ATC.. as FS2002 uses only 1 or 2 runways sometimes I change the pattern with AFCAD to active one for approach and one for departure, but i have found that sometimes when coming either me or an ai aircraft cleared to land... ground control doesn't tell to hold if another aircraft is on final after being cleared for landing.. I don't know if someone else has experienced this problem...
Is there any way with AFCAD to correct that o some solution???
Thanks Luis
KMIA Ground not holding runway-crossing aircrafts..
Luis,
It's not a problem and is done on purpose. The reason being that ground will tell an aircraft to hold short of a runway when an aircraft is cleared to land (or takeoff) on it, even if it's 5 miles away. This can create bottlenecks of holding ground traffic, especially at busy airports. Some genious person figured out how to avoid having the aircraft hold short of runways and ground traffic operations are much smoother now. While not realistic it keeps the aircraft moving and getting to their assigned gates rather than holding forever and then disappearing. It's a trade-off so-to-speak. However, you can go back in and link the taxiways to the runway links and you'll have your aircraft holding again. It'll take some work with AFCAD, but it is possible.

Thanks Dan for telling me so now I can understand. Specifically that is one problem I'm facing with the KMIA scenery and fs2002 in general. Once you are about 5 miles from the airport and tower gives clearance for landing I can't see if someone is crossing or it's going to cross the runway I'm landing, but once I approach near 3 miles from the threshold is when I could see the crossing aircraft and ai planes taxiing at nearly 6 knots (real taxi speed is more than that, meaning with 6 knots you take upto 20 minutes to the runway for takeoff) compare to my speed for approach at or above 130 knots normally I receive a "go around" by the tower due to an aircraft on the runway. I can tell, sometimes I have to do 3 go arounds or cancel IFR to land on an unused runway where I know traffic is not going to bother, and I'm only using 65% ai traffic in Miami and other airports. But that happens also with approach and It's not realistic since ATC's most important role is separation of aircrafts, and I have understood that for approach there must be a separation of 3-miles-in-trail and once I turn for approach (TRACON) I find out there are even upto 8 aircrafts establishing on the localizer for just one same runway some with less than half mile separation from each. I think that's a big problem of FS2002, I hope microsoft did worked that problem in FS2004.
But thanks so much for your help.
Best regards,
Luis
