TNCM - Planes land and takeoff on runway 27.
TNCM - Planes land and takeoff on runway 27.
Why are the planes not landing and taking off on runway 9?
I am having the same problem too. The landing/takeofff always on rwy 27. Can someone explaing how to change the AFCAD to close RWY 27? Or how to set the wind direction to fix this? I always use the real world weather too (download every 15 min)polcat wrote:To ensure I always had traffic landing on Rwy 09, I "closed" rwy 27 using AFCAD. I too kept getting traffic landing on 27.
Thanks.

due to limitations of FS you cannot close a single site of a runway but only both sites. So what you can is:
- closing boths sites of a runway for takeoff / open both sites for landing
- closing both sites for landing / open both sites for take-off
You have the same problem for realistic landings at KLAX, even winds are from the east aircrafts do land on 25 / 24 at daytime, only at night time from the seaside. With the limitations of FS this is not capable.
BTW, TNCM...I wonder if in real life aircraft do apprach to RWY 27, I hardly doubt that because of the hill there.
Aircraft do occasionally land and take off from runway 27 though runway 9 is most commonly used. If I recall correctly its usually during mid to late summer. I used to hike up a hill to marvel overhead at the challenging landings on runway 27.
But nothing beats the close up action of Sunset Beach in Maho. I must say FlyTampa did an amazing job in capturing detail in and around the airports of St. Maarten and St. Barths. I guess someone had some good times over there

You can close a runway on only one end in FS2004 - there are at least three default runway setup this way in FS2004 we have found so far.
They are:
EDDF:
Rwy 08R
Rwy 36
EGLL:
Rwy 05
There two requirements for this to work.
1. Mark the AFCAD file for Rwy 27 at TNCM closed for landing and takeoff both on Rwy 27
2. Delete the Rwy 27 start position.
You will then have a single direction airport with only Rwy 9 used for landing and takeoff.
This method may not work in all cases - especially on runways with an ILS and ILS approaches coded - i.e. Setting up KSAN for landings and takeoffs on Rwy 27 only - doesn't work because only Rwy 9 has an ILS.

Not from work.
First make a backup copy of your AFCAD.
Then open TNCM with AFCAD
From the top menu select View > Show Start Locations
A circle with an arrow will appear on the runway near each end. Click on to hilight the one on the east end next to the numbers 27 on the runway.
Press Delete
Save the AFCAD - delete the scenery.dat file from the folder which holds the Scenery folder containing the AFCAD - start FS and test.
Alternately, you can go to the top menu > List > Start Locations - hilight the Rwy 27 start location and press the delete button.
Start Locations are a very critical element in airports and controlling AI behavior - especially the elevation of the airport.

Once you delete the Start Location be sure and open the runway properties and put a checkmark in the 2 boxes that says "closed for takoff" and "closed for landing" (RWY27)
Delete the scenery.dat and it will rebuild when you start FS9. FS does a poor job in flushing out left over data in the .dat files. Many complain that they change something and don't see their results because of this issue.
It is some additional insurance that everything is going to work the way you want it to.
