No AI at TFFJ

Post by mikeforum » Thu Apr 19, 2007 6:01 am

Hello everybody,

I am enjoying a lot this superb scenery, but I haven't any AI at TFFJ.

I use Ultimate Traffic with the last update/schedule, and traffic at TNCM is ok, no problems whatsoever.

I checked the timetables within UT for Winair and St. Barth Commuter, and they seem OK, with flights to/from TFFJ, but when I am at the aiport, correct time, not a single AI plane, ever.

Any suggestion what could be wrong?
Thanks a bunch
Miguel

Hi jorgehmosteiro or dude,

I carefully read other topics before posting mine. I already had installed the AI traffic for TNCM/TFFJ, with the right AI models, textures, flightplans, etc.

I checked this through UT, but I only get AI planes at TNCM but not at TFFJ.
Since the other topic was focused in getting the models, textures, flightplans, and I have them already, my problem was why I have AI in one airport and not in the other.

Am I entitled to ask help for this, dude?
Maybe the the answer is easy, but I did not get it trough the other topic,

BTW, Dan thanks for your replay, but I still have the problem, after reading the other posts

Thanks in advance for your help.
Good manners are always welcome.

Stay calm, no worries. Don't worry about others comments. Most of us are here to help.

What have you already installed and where to get traffic at TFFJ?

This is a simple traffic set up, but you will for sure have winair twin otters and BN 2's at TFFJ.

Dan & paavo, thanks for your replies!!!!!

When installing the the small traffic setup you posted, I do see traffic at TFFJ.

That tells me the problem is within Ultimate Traffic, and NOT related to the scenery. I could try to investigate or try to fix it (from texture assignment to traffic files...), but the traffic I see now it is enough to enjoy this great scenery

Thanks so much :P :P

The one I posted is simple, put the 4 plane folders into your fs9/aircraft folder. The one bgl goes in the scenery/world/scenery/ folder.

Have you created Assignments in Ultimate Traffic for all the airports in the flight schedule of the airline?

There are a lot of small airports in UT which are under their IATA code, but with no airport assigned to that code with the FS2004 ICAO code or designator.

If one airport in the flight plan does not have an assigned airport - the entire FP will not be compiled.

Adrian Wright has done the work on this subject - http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/foru ... asp?TID=52

One of those airports is GBJ - TFFM

Guys, there is another issue with TFFJ. Parking spot and aircraft model radius. If there are no parking spots with sufficient radius, an aircraft will not show up or disappear after landing. When I first checked the airport, there was only one aircraft, on Parking 2, which has a 18 m radius. When I increased the radius of the "Gate" parking spots to 16m, various others appeared. Why 16? Well, for example the PAI recommended radius of the Twin Otter is 16 m.

So, try increasing radius. But be aware, you might have to move the spots around a little, there's not a whole lot of space there. :D

Mike

The issue of parking radius is not entirely with TFFJ but what Model Type AI Plane the User has decided to use.

There is no universal standard amoung designers of AI models or AFCAD parking radius. PAI uses their standard for both models and AFCAD's as a pair but then other model designers use a different set of rules.

I have posted several times what Models can clear the hill and PAI is not included in the list. They also set the model radius to 16M where as the models tested that clear the hill are set at 8 and 10M.

Many many many different type Models were tested to find what works and what does not work. This also includes many different sets of .air/cfg's that are available by different FDE developers. I am very familiar with all the major players that write FDE's for various AI Planes and only the 3 types I listed in other post clear the hill.

If a user decides to step outside the bounds of what works versus what does not work then they will have to redesign the AFCAD to fit their individual needs.

Parking spot size at TFFJ was intentional and not accidental. This is done so Users would choose the same Models that were tested and work for their AI FP models.

hope this is helpful
