General FSX Question
Hello... I just got FSX up and running. I was wondering if anyone knew of any compatible sceneries out there. The only FSX scenery I know of is CVG by Imaginesim. Anyone know any others I can purchase or just download??? BOS is 2002/2004 only, correct???
Thanks

Please have a look here, I think this list summarizes quite accurately what is available as freeware:SteveM11 wrote:Hello... I just got FSX up and running. Re: General FSX Question
Aerosoft has a few FSX sceneries. I hope you have the rig to run them, Budapest for FSX is unusable on my system, 5 fps just doesn't cut it. I gave up on FSX and went back to FS9. Garry summons has both FS9 and FSuX airports, there is a free trial so you can see how good it runs in. I found the airports to look better in FS9 and have double the fps over FSuX.SteveM11 wrote:Hello... I just got FSX up and running. There is supposed to be a service pack 1 coming out soon. The rumor is that it could increase performance by as much as 20%. But if you're only getting 5-7 fps now...well you can do the math.Jacek wrote:I haven't been really following the latest news on FSX, is there anything positive going on as far as the performance improvements or such?

EDIT: Apparently the SP1 has just gone to the beta testers. It is supposed to be released to the public by the end of April.
No problem. It would be nice if it actually made FSX playable for the majority of users but I doubt it will.Jacek wrote:skydvdan wrote:

Thanks for the heads up.

You know what? Quite frankly, I must admit that I'm glad that FSX came out with all these performance problems. By the time that they come out with all the fixes, the DX10 update and the whole nine yards, the current hardware will come down on prices, I'm talking towards the end of the year or so. This is pretty much when I'm looking to upgrade the PC, I can't see myself shelling out all this money for the 8800GTX now, it's pretty much insane pricing.
Thanks to the people on this forum, I took the smart advice and waited.
The sad thing is many of us paid 70 dollars for fsx the day it came out, I heard the compusa stores that are closing had fsx for 15 dollars.Jacek wrote:skydvdan wrote: No problem. It would be nice if it actually made FSX playable for the majority of users but I doubt it will.

I bought every previous edition on the day it came out since 98, this time I decided to wait and see what the feedback would be within the community and boy am I glad I did that.paavo wrote: The sad thing is many of us paid 70 dollars for fsx the day it came out, I heard the compusa stores that are closing had fsx for 15 dollars.
I'm sorry for people like you paavo (no disrespect), I'd probably buy this thing on the first day as well, but I knew DX10 would cause a huge price increase of video cards as I did a little research before the release date.
I'm really hoping for some positive news when SP1 comes out, if the performance improvement will be really minimal, I doubt I'll ever switch to FSX, I'll still update the PC though to some kind of a little monster gaming machine.

Don't feel sorry for me, I hated the fsx demo and bashed it in every forum, I said it was fs2000 all over again. I bought it anyway, but there is a certain satisfaction in the fact that fsx is fs2000 all over again.Jacek wrote:I bought every previous edition on the day it came out since 98, this time I decided to wait and see what the feedback would be within the community and boy am I glad I did that.paavo wrote: The sad thing is many of us paid 70 dollars for fsx the day it came out, I heard the compusa stores that are closing had fsx for 15 dollars.
