Jetway Will Not Animate

Post by kmanning » Fri Aug 18, 2017 8:10 pm

Hi,
I've recently purchased the Fly Tampa Chicago Midway Airport. I made a flight from KATL to KMDW last week and when I arrived, I've noticed that it did not have a parking spot for gate B25. Gate B25 is a new gate that was recently opened since the release of this airport scenery. I was using GSX and when I was searching through the list to select my gate, B25 was not in the list. I checked the KMDW_ADEX_Fly Tampa.bgl file in ADE and sure enough, there was no parking spot for B25. I added the parking spot as well as the jetway for this parking spot and compiled it in the same folder location as the original. The parking spot and jetway was added in FSX but the jetway will not animate. All of the other jetways in this scenery animate, except for B25, the one I've added. Is there something else required to make this jetway animate?

Not sure. Check that the Jetway you added in ADE, has the same GUID as the other ones in the ADE. If it still doesn't work, make sure the jetway is close enough to the parking spot.

I did a test by using the default KORD airport and added a parking spot and gate in ADE. I named it gate B22 and the jetway animated perfectly, and the GUID did match all of others. When I checked the jetway I added to the Fly Tampa Boston bgl file, the GUID did not match the others. So do all of the GUIDs have to match for them to anitmae? If so, how do I change the GUID with this jetway to match the others?

Another thing I noticed was that at first, I tried to copy one of the other jetways and it would not let me do that. So, I had to add it after creating the parking spot.

Maybe its something simpler. In ADE with the KMDW file loaded, click View/Exclusions. Most likely your new Jetway is just being excluded, so you need to edit those and make a non-exclusion area for it.

I don't understand anything about the Exclusions and all I see is red boxes and grey boxes. I don't know what anything of that means or how you determine if it's excluded or not. I need a lot more details. Also, is there a way to test it in ADE without having to compile it over and over and over again and testing it in the simulator?

Hi all,
Just want to announce that I have the jetway working now. From the Top view in FSX, I noticed that I did not have the jetway exactly where I needed to placed it. I used the auto-connect in ADE and positioned a small place exactly where I wanted the jetway to go in FSX so that I could see where to place the jetway in ADE. Now, it animates. The problem is that this jetway I added does not match the others. I tried to copy and past the jetway so that they would all match but it want let me do so. Is there a way I can copy the original or maybe get the GUID number and find it on the internet?

You can find the GUID number for KMDW's jetway by selecting any of them and looking at the "properties" window.
I don't know how you can paste this GUID into your newly created jetway. One way I know is that you place your new jet, compile with "keep XML", then edit the XML in Notepad and copy the proper GUID in there, recompile and reload that file into ADE. Not sure if there is an easier way with the latest version of ADE.
