Thank you! // Another (almost minor) Issue

Post by Alexander Arlow » Thu Feb 16, 2006 3:50 am

Hi Folks and especially Martin,

i just wanted to take time, to thank you for that fantastic piece of work that you have released. i almost had tears in my eyes as i slewed over the airport for the first time ;)

one of the things i like most, is the fact that the more you taxi away from the gates, the darker it gets. that is an effect that exists for real in vienna and i think on any other airport as well. but there is an issue on that, because at dusk and dawn, the scenery around the airport is still lightened and the airport is just a giant black spot.

i hope that there is any chance to change the moment the scenery changes to that black texture-overlay in a future update. if not, i will have to deal with it ;)

once again, thank you for your great work and for that level of support that you provide. there are lots of pretty good designers out there, but none of them is as fast as you in releasing minor fixes and even new versions of the whole installer (1.1 for example :D)

kind regards,
alex

I just went to look at it again and can't quite get the effect you describe. What I know is that in current time (Snow Winter) the airport area will appear a little brighter then the surroundings at dusk/dawn. That is not fixable unless we make the snow look darker/gray during the day by which means it wouldn't match the surrounding snow during the day.

Can you post a screenshot of what you mean with this difference between dark airport area and still lit surroundings. I want to see if it is maybe just due to your monitor/gfx/gamma settings or if perhaps it is something else that needs fixing.

As far as tweaking the timing when our textures change, thats impossible, all that is done by the FS engine internally.

Are you using aware if you are using any replaced Landclasses or an alternative texture set? Austria-Pro, FScene, BridseyeView or similar Addons I mean.

I notice the "blacknes" in your screenshots too so it is not a monitor/gamma issue. I tried to replicate this visual here by loading several seasons and times but I cannot get it to look the same, even when I set a later time then in the examples below it never gets like your screenshots.

2 examples:

- Winter dusk, using the dusk preset FS set the time to 15:55:20

- Summer dusk, also using the dusk preset FS set the time to 19:18:33

Hello

I have the same problem. It seems like there is only balck textures at night. Or no texture the apron textures are there and no textures from the first taxyway. My settings are the same as yours. So dont know whats the problem. the taxyways and runway are black only the white markings you can see and the blue lights on the edge.

Try this: Summer 22:00 PM.

Shot attached, it should all be the same darknes on and outside the airport. This was taken with only Fly-Vienna, no other Addons for the region.

Let me know what results you get under this conditions (summer 22PM).

Thank you martin! The "dawn/dusk texture blending" option seems to solve the problem :)
