Render to texture should never be selected, if you use ANY DXT texures...

What's with the person saying you contaminate other boards ?
I don't get it, you seem nice and civil to me, do you have a troll that follows you around ?
Have you fixed the crashing problem ?

i dont really dont feel like opening my case each time I fire up FS9.. and no, my card doesnt have temp monitoring.

As for specs I have a rather new system (4 months old or so) with 3.2GHz, 1.5 RAM, 2 200GB SATA HDs, ATI Radeon X300/X550 (128mb), and a 19" Dell Ultrasharp LCD monitor.

I also get a blue screen (sometimes) that says that there is problems with hardware and that the computer will shut down to prevent damage. I have way to much hardware to test which one is causing the problems.

Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. But for now I can live with the crashes as they dont happen often, though it would be good to know what causes them.

Who says that I have contaminated other boards??
Cannot see any posts that indicate that...

I asked this question in the PMDG forum, yes, but I only posted here after I got no more answers.

I will fly a test flight today and will not use the snapshooter device, this is the long flight to Boston, that recently crashed me while landing.

The blue screen of death will give you a file name or reason for the crash, ie driver_sys_ , infinite_loop, sys32, best thing is to see what it tells you and google it.

Dear all...
It crashed again.
I made it to Boston, but I think that was only due to poor visibility... Check weather for Boston yesteday.

I went into top down view after exiting the runway, and I saw what apeared to be some sort of texture flicker just right off taxi way Bravo running out of end of runway 22L.
I went into top down view to see if the entire airport was flickering, and it wasn't so I zoomed in, and as I got closer textures loading for a snap of a second, then my screen went black and my whole PC restarted!
Now I have checked my PC temp through out my flight, and for it to crash after landing and in top down view is just weird.

Martin or George, I know you are not obligated to answer, but I would like to hear from you what exactly is happening when airport textures are loading. What could this type of crash indicate. I am thinking about BEV and Fscene textuers and FScene auto gen patch to be at blame, but that is just pure speculation!

the only "d3d9.dll" crashes I read about were related to some ATI tools/hacks but that can't be the case so I really don't know... unless you replaced an ATI card in your system and some dll remained in the system?

ye I heard that one as well Martin!
But I have a brand new system, nothing has been in it before...

I had saved my flight of yesterday while over Canada.
I loaded it today, and I landed flawlessly!
I tried to stress the PC taking shots and while parked at the gate, I zoomed in and out rapidly, I checked my 3D card temp and it was REALLY low.
44 degrees with a slow down speed of 115 degrees.

41 is idle temp!

I honestly do not have a clue.

I have had on board sound card issues, when I got the pc, bought a creative labs card, and I now have sound.

Could that be the cause, but why this time factor? I mean I am able to land at Boston, just not if I have been riding the plane for more than 5 horus it appears.

A 5 hour flight, do you refresh the scenery before you get to the destination airprot ?
Is your onboard sound turned off in the bios ?

I think it was here that George or Martin talked about refreshing the scenery on long flights in case of memory leaks, I know I read that on some forum.

I use the "tab" key, but you need to assign a key to it. Start FS9 and go to the page that allows you to change key assignments, scroll down to "refresh scenery" and assign a key to it, when your flying just hit whatever key you picked and FS9 will reload the scenery.

 For real??
I think that would solve my problems, I am not sure, but I most definately think so!

Martin/George how often do I need to do it, and why?

Wow thank you so much for that advice!

also.. My mate says that I should not activate extended textures, but I have never had any negative experiences with that!

And render to texture, needs to be on right? or is it off? I use DXT clouds so one of the render to texture settings will crash my FS9
Boaz.
