Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
I am getting the same error. Trying to install in XP12 RC 6 on Mac M1 Ventura 13.01 and getting the message both while running with and without Rosetta.
Log.txt indicates that all kinds of objects can't be found. Same warning of the DSF load for scenery 52, 4.
In addition also the following lines in the log.txt file:
0:00:12.415 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'SAM3_Library/marshaller/marshaller.agp', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/FlyTampa_Amsterdam_0_airport/'.

Indeed: suggestions or a fix are welcome, as the purchase of FlyTampa Amsterdam as it is now is in vain.

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
These seem to be all related to SAM plugin. As a test, can you navigate to the ***_0_Airport folder and rename the ‘sam.xml’ file to ‘sam.off’ and try again?
If this works, then you might be missing the SAM for XPlane plugin

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
Thanks for looking in.
Two things:
1. I renamed the 'sam.xml' file to 'sam.off'. To no avail: same warnings, SAM3_Library/marshaller/marshaller.agp still can't be found.
2. I installed SAM3 in X-Plane and tested again. Same results.
I think, the problem is more that multiple DSF references can't be found. When I look around at the airport, there is only a huge empty plane where Amsterdam Schiphol airport used to be. :-)
Maybe there is a clue in the line "(io dsf.cpp:1171)": could be line 1171 in a C++ file. Which we do not have...
I would like to attach my log.txt file, but (as a newby on this forum) can't get around the objection that .txt is an invalid file extension.

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
Well, I found one of the causes: the SAM3 plugin is only compatible with Intel processors. It isn't compatible with an ARM processor like the Mac M1. So that explains the X-Plane warning that the scenery might not look correct.
However, the tiles around Amsterdam weren't loaded either. I doubt if that can be the consequence of the absence of the SAM3 plugin. So the question now is whether the FlyTampa Amsterdam scenery itself is compatible with the ARM processors.

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
Sometimes, failure to find a compatible asset (ie SAM models) can disable more files, which would otherwise load correctly.
Can you try removing SAM completely from your XPlane installation (it wont work anyway), and then also make sure our SAM.xml is not present in the 0_airport_folder

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
FWIW, on my Mac Studio Max running macOS 13.1) the scenery itself looks fine (except no taxiways and the jetways pointing in the wrong direction) and I run X-Plane 12 as Apple Silicon native, so the plugins like SAM3 do not load.
I am aware that some animated objects are not working, but for the rest it looks fine…?
Looking forward to the 1.1 version, but not sure how to download that as it seems you need the universal updater, which is a Windows app.

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
I just purchased it today and am getting exactly the same issue.
Just a large field where Amsterdam default used to be, and the same error messages as the user reported above.
This is running through X-plane 11 with MacBook Pro M1, and purchased through Orbx.
I have tried the suggestion above to disable SAM, and have done so, however this did nothing.
Any other suggestions that I can try?

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
Removed SAM completely, removed SAM.xml from the 0_airport folder. Same results (both in Apple Silicon and in Rosetta mode): warning message in X-Plane and empty plane where the default Amsterdam used to be. (Removing FlyTampa Amsterdam entirely reinstalls the default scenery. But that was to be expected.)emilios[flytampa] wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 6:41 pm Sometimes, failure to find a compatible asset (ie SAM models) can disable more files, which would otherwise load correctly.

So now with the reports of malenca and JohnD this issue seems to be promoted from an incident to a problem. ;-)
The interesting thing is in what respect the environment of gr8mac differs. We're both on 13.01 (Ventura) so that can't be the problem. His machine is a Mac Studio M1 Max (with either 32 or 64 GB), mine a MacBook Pro M1 Max with 32 GB, but that can't be the problem either.
The only pugins I am running are X-Camera and XLua 1.1.0r1 when running Apple Silicon native and in addition SkunkCrafts Updater (SASL) when running under Rosetta.
A recent remark on x-plane.org suggested installing just the two Custom Scenery libraries that SAM installs. That will be my next lead.
I'll keep you posted, but additional suggestions would still be appreciated.
Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
well, I managed to get somewhere. Not quite sure how.
The suggestion from support of deleting SAM was not really correct. It actually needs it to load, but it is looking in the wrong place. (according to my setup)
What I did was to copy the contents of the SAM Library folder from resources/plugins to the custom scenery folder. That seemed to get me the scenery.
I then had to install the LST add-on to get the traffic working. (got that from another post on this forum,).
Would be good to have an installation guide and an FAQ.

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
Yes, quite right. I managed too. While re-installing SAM3, several MacOS security messages popped up that .xpl files were unsafe (mainly about the flutter embedder framework). By allowing these files to run the installation of SAM3 succeeded.
The Amsterdam airport shows up when running X-Plane in Rosetta because the SAM plugin creates a dynamic link in Custom Scenery. Trying to load the Amsterdam airport in Apple Silicon mode fails because the SAM plugin isn’t compatible with ARM processors and consequently the dynamic link isn’t created either. The solution is described by JohnD: just copy the SAM library yourself to the Custom Scenery folder. The Amsterdam Schiphol scenery will be visible then in Silicon mode as well. The jetways point very awkwardly in the wrong direction, like gr8mac already stated, but that is the next problem to solve.
In the meantime, it is a pleasure to move around a fully updated, gorgeous Schiphol airport. Even the surroundings are perfect. I was born, grew up and still live in this neighbourhood. Played football (soccer for our American friends) in the woods you see when approaching RW27 (and had a run there half an hour ago), spent the summer months of my youth in what we would now call the tiny houses across the lake you see on your right: It’s all there in a detail not seen before!

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
I have FlyTamp AMS running Apple Silicon native.
I do have the SAM plugin installed (which includes the lib) but it is not loaded.
Does this scenery simply need objects from the SAM plugin - library?
BTW, just downloaded the 1.2 version (by using the original link and renaming that...) and it also works. This version does has good taxiways.
I also have my own Ortho scenery for the Netherlands, and I removed the FLyTampa AMS - Mesh entirely. Looks better IMHO

Re: FLYTampa Ams Installation on Mac
Hi all,
On this forum this seems to be the latest thread I can find related to the issues I experience while freshly installing the EHAM scenery. I am also running XP12 on a MBP with M1Pro. Copying the contents of the SAM-plugin folder to Custom Scenery does not give a positive result though when running native Silicon. Unlike while running under Rosetta, then the scenery is fully functional.
I wonder what I'm missing here. Do you have any tips or a link to more actual information?
I surely agree that one would expect a FAQ / installation guide, especially seen the incompatibility issues experienced with Apple Silicon.
Thanks.
