P3Dv5 strange behavior...

Post by jonmkj » Fri Apr 17, 2020 9:33 pm

Hey y'all, was wondering if you could look into this for me... I'm upgrading to v5 and testing my scenery one at a time as I install it. I first noticed this odd behavior at KBOS. As you get further away from the buildings, they appear to "un-render" from the bottom up. This obviously causes some wild visuals on approach.

I also have KLAS and it seems to be unaffected, however I've also installed some of LatinVFR's stuff and it's doing it there too so it seems to be a simulator problem moreso than a problem with the scenery itself. I know Lockheed Martin has made some odd little changes in the latest version, so who knows how that's affecting scenery.

I've attached a few screenshots. Up close, everything looks normal. At a distance, the structures are "swallowed up" by nothing (they aren't sinking into the ground). Zoomed in then, you can see what I'm talking about.

Sorry about that. Here's some that should work. This is, I believe, a Z-bias issue with the ground polygon. P3Dv5 appears to have changed the way that the polygon layers are exported via BGLComp.exe. The further you are away, the more that the polygon begins to override the 3D structures placed on an around it. Apparently, the layers can now be sequential instead of spaced apart by several numbers and it alleviates these problems.
