Anchorage

Post by scadesboise » Sun Dec 04, 2005 8:57 pm

Hi everyone.

This isn't really a request for FlyTampa to do a scenery, but more a question if anyone knows if there is a payware (or high quality freeware) scenery for Anchorage (PANC) to be found anywhere? I use FS2004.

Then again, if noone has done PANC, it would be awesome if Flytampa did it :D .

EDIT: Forgot to mention I know that there are some small scenery files for rwy12, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. Any help in pointing me in the right direction anyone?

I too have been looking for scenery for ANC, and as far as I know (after extensive on-line searching) no one has developed anything. I usually do a search every few months to see if something new has come up.

Of course it would be great if one of these good quality developers  would tackle this unique project..... A major airport with one of the world's busiest float plane bases directly adjacent.

Hi there,

well, at least if there won't be a KLAX I hope that Martin is currently working on PANC as this number 2 on my wish list :)

Anchorage is a major cargo hub and has never been done by any of the vendors designing sceneries.

PANC has been top of my wish list for 2 years.

Total mecca for international cargo flights. The airport continues to grow, and with the Chinese and Japanese economies continuing to explode, the cargo and pax traffic transiting through PANC will continue to grow.

I cant believe its been completely ignored by everyone for years. There are plenty of pics and sat views now available for it.

Anyways, we can always hope.

Happy Holidays Everyone.

Cheers

there is a freeware PANC scenery at avsim. But it is heavy on frames and nothing spectacular.

I too am hoping someone comes out with a high quality PANC. I am a cargo guy and would love it!

I was hoping they would make Juneau. Only because I prefer the smaller airports and maybe I would be able to fly into juneau then without FS CTD'ing.

Of course, if FT did model Anchorage, I would hope they would include Elmendorf AFB as part of the package, because they are so close, we wouldn't want to ruin the feel/view by having sub standard airfields so close. Besides, I would love to have an AFB modeled by FT. ;)

Yeah, if I try to fly around Juneau, my FS immediately "Stops" Poof, gone. It's been that way ever since I've had it. Of course, there are some other airfields that do that to me as well now, that didn't before, so it's obviously some how add-ons causing cradhes FS crashes near various airports. I've really only seen it around three or four airports (In the FS world, not just the U.S.).

Yea, I also have been looking for a great Anchorage Airport addon. We got the enviorment addon, with the Georender Alaska, which if you don't have, I would suggest getting it, its awesome. However, what we need is a Anchorage Airport. With it being a popular airport, I to am surprised no one as even attemped to really make a decent scenery for it. All three major airports in Alaska are always over looked. Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. But most of the people are familiar Anchorage, and as big and important to the cargo world as it is, I'm shocked no one as thought about it. I think, that if Fly Tampa was to make an ANC product, they would be very well known for the AK scenery in the FS Community, especially to those who fly into Anchorage alot. I know alot of people look for Alaska scenery because of its uniqueness. Just look at Georender, how great of a turn out they got because of so many requests for an Alaska Scenery. I think it would be a great project maybe for the future for Fly Tampa. Would really bring your ratings up, even though they are already pretty high up there.

I don't know if any of you know anything about Dutch Harbor Airport up in Alaska, but that place is amazing. I saw a show on it on the Discovery channel, and about the pilots that fly for Alaska airlines that fly in, land, and take off on a 3500ft runway, in a 732. It's a tiny little airport right next to a huge cliff side, which makes for some pretty nasty winds. It is also known for terrible weather. Now that would be an amazing airport for a developer to work on. It looks like crap in FS, but trust me, the place is fun. Do a google search under pictures or something for it, maybe it will show up.
