VDGS

Post by Greenhorn » Sun Jan 15, 2017 5:52 pm

Hi Emilios,

I've been flying the FT Amsterdam a couple of times now, and what I noticed is the Visual Docking Guidance System in P3D is not working. The left/right markers don't work. The configurator shows that its only the safeguard for FSX is fully functional, but for P3D it's not, will this be fixed in the (near) future? I have seen other sceneries with working VDGS systems in P3D. I can only imagine the workload the poor marshallers now have with all the traffic inbound without the VDGS systems. :?

You've just reminded me that there was another quirk I wanted to mention...

For my first couple of installs (I tweak & reinstall quite a lot :? ), the first option (for P3D native safedock) was inop. - with it selected there was no safedock on any stand. Eventually I switched to the FSX (only) option, and they appeared & functioned without problem.

Actually on a subsequent install, I have the P3D native ones working. I have my suspicions that there was something not quite right when the installer completes and launches the configuration tool. If I install Amsterdam first, I get warnings that P3D is running, and its config file isn't writable (both statements incorrect); but if I install Vienna first, then Amsterdam, there are no errors.

Anyway... How this relates to your problem, is that in selecting the FSX safedocks out of curiosity, I found them to be fully functional (in P3D 3.4.9.18400) - including left/right guidance. Perhaps that's an option that'll give your marshallers a rest? :D

Regards,

Rob.

(For the record, on my most recent install, the P3D native safedocks appear and function (though of course with only in/out guidance))

We don't currently have the 'full' VDGS system working in this version of P3D. I remember earlier versions of P3D used to support it (ie at Copenhagen release), but seems a bit 'broken again'. This was based on old BGLC code which only FSX currently supports. If we can get a working VDGS it will be included in next AMS update.

You might want to get in touch with the SODE creator, there's a great VDGS ready to go it seems...
