Positive reviews Amsterdam SimMarket
A lot of forum members including myself have issues with OOM's regardless of different PC specifications which
makes this great looking Amsterdam practically impossible to use.
Up till now a solution has not been found.
However on SimMarket the reviews are very positive with an average score of five stars.
Is it possible to find out why their Amsterdam seems to be working fine and ours are not.
I cannot believe that SimMarket has a selective review policy or am I mistaken.
I have ten excellent FlyTampa Sceneries and one, Amsterdam, which I cannot get working without an OOM after
approx. ten to fifteen minutes.
Sorry but I forgot to mention that I have FSX

Re: Positive reviews Amsterdam SimMarket
Although working with a moderate CPU can fly amsterdam without issues regarding VAS, I must admit
I don't use FSX or Steam , but also with P3D there were in the beginning some issues that were fixed
with testing with and without mentioned VAS consuming add-ons in several topics here.
the best way to try out is a test drive with only windows, flightsimulator (p3d or Fsx) and eham Amsterdam
and yor favourite aircraft. when everything is okee then you can be sure that another add-on is causing
trouble.
Have worked out this test on a sunday, and found out that with only these programs installed, even got 1.6 gb
free space available. and is not fair to blame flytampa of unflyable airport while other add-ons
can make the difference in Flying and OOM.
hope you can find the cause this way.

The CPU has nothing to do with VAS. And the solution to the VAS problem can't be to reinstall the Flight Simulator and install only the aircraft you would like to fly and this airport or to disable basically all other addons just to be able to use Amsterdam. That's unacceptable.Sydney1962 wrote:Although working with a moderate CPU can fly amsterdam without issues regarding VAS, I must admit

I agree with Christiaan, for me it's the only scenery that's causing OOMs and I really hope this gets resolved. This can't be ignored since so many people seem to have the same problem.
Re: Positive reviews Amsterdam SimMarket
Of course there is some degree of selectiveness in shop reviews. Some people told me their negative reviews did not go through simMarket. One of mine (not FlyTampa) did not either. On the other hand I see some short extremely positive reviews looking like being written by... well... . Just look at some @#$% addons which get two or three great 'reviews' minutes or hours after release.Christiaan wrote:I cannot believe that SimMarket has a selective review policy or am I mistaken.

Of course this is not written against simmMarket as it's the shop where I bust most often.
And this is nothing against FlyTampa's addons. I have a few of their sceneries, love them and will continue buying providing that I am interested and they perform well.
I don't have FT Amsterdam as I decided to wait and see how it performs for other simmers.
Re: Positive reviews Amsterdam SimMarket
FSX is dying and VAS inefficient platform. EHAM trully shines at P3D with all bells and whistles.
Re: Positive reviews Amsterdam SimMarket
Nope...some are experiencing the same problems in P3D. And if it's made for FSX and P3D, it has to work in both. I'm confident that FlyTampa will solve this. I love all their sceneries and they are all working perfectly except for AMS.Dimon wrote:FSX is dying and VAS inefficient platform. EHAM trully shines at P3D with all bells and whistles.

Your comment is totally useless. Better to shut up if going to say nonsense.Dimon wrote:FSX is dying and VAS inefficient platform. EHAM trully shines at P3D with all bells and whistles.
Re: Positive reviews Amsterdam SimMarket
I have personally used FlyTampa EHAM in P3D, and have abused my sim terribly hard with this scenery enabled. I've done a long-haul into it, right clicked everywhere, and even switched to a 172 to explore the airport, and my VAS didnt go any higher than 85% (Courtesy of ProjectFly Pilot Tools). I've never actually experienced a CTD or OOM with EHAM, so only a some are experiencing this problem.
Are you using a 32 bit or 64 bit system, and are you running FSX as administrator?
Also, Dimon is right about P3D and VAS. FSX will crash when it runs out of VAS - P3D just dumps it and moves on. That is, for P3D v3 at least. Althoguh it does not completely prevent OOM's, it is an improvement, so I would recommend using EHAM with P3D over FSX. If anyone using P3D v3 crashes with EHAM, then I would tone down some of the settings.
EDIT: I flew a long shul into EHAM yesterday... And it crashed. I'll try the litetex pack and report back if it works
