VAS
Hi,
I don't wish to hijack anyone's thread since all issues are different. My specs. HP Z1 Gen. 1 Intel Xeon CPU E3-1245 3.40Ghz, 32G RAM, GTX 980M, 2 TB SSD.
Issues- Have LITE pack installed, lowered ASCA, AS16,EVNTEX and autogen in P3D but still have VAS issues. I have the latest hotfix for P3D installed, all programs as Admin. The closest i've gotten so far is 5000ft from EHAM LOC before i OOM'd. I have flown into Heavy VAS airports like LIMC, EDDF etc no issues with realism settings on ASCA, AS16. Any help is appreciated.
Happy Holidays,
Olisa

Re: VAS
Hello Olisa
Think that specs are not important for VAS use, only framerate can be real different.
also memory is not important when having 8gb installed or more, because 32bit software is limited
to 4GB adressable space.
what you can try is to start at an airport with around 1GB vas free and monitor closely when vas drops down
you probably see it goes down when entering dutch airspace.
I think that is not flytampa that brings OOM, but already some other scenery that you are reaching
before entering EHAM scenery.
because other sceneries P3D or Orbx , are not freeing up space what brings our sim to OOM.
good luck in testing, will also make myself testruns from all directions.

Hi guys,
I agree with most of what Sydney1962 with an exception regarding the statement about your specs.
Albeit, you have a good CPU, it is not perhaps the best for a single core performance program such as FSX/P3D despite there being tweaks to help them better utilize all cores.
Your CPU can actually cripple you in extensive situations, using up your valuable memory to load and reload textures. Your Cache is most important here as it will hold those vital details (textures) to recall without utilizing crucial VAS. The larger the Cache the better management of memory amongst other things.
I upgraded My specs from a system that closely resembles yours. I'm now sporting 17-4790K, MSI-GTX980Ti. I can load up Ifly 747, As-Airbus, NGX and T7 of Pmdg, Dash 8, Carenado at FT EHAM, taxing and takeoff with 656mb vas remaining:
My LOD is set at 4.5, and my autogen Bldgs are set at Dense.
All shadows on (all) and
Terrain Mesh slider is 5
Texture Resolution is 15. (I recommend a read of the AVSIM P3D Guide to help you better set up your system as all configurations are different.)
Orbx - all regions + all OPLC +Scenery
AS16 +ASCA
Again I concur with Sydney1962 with respect to your approach into EHAM and whether or not you departed from another heavy airport such as, EDDF, PRAGUE, KJFK, EGLL etc that you will not make it into AMS unless somewhere along your travels you have saved, exit and rebooted (preferably close to AMS).
So far I've tested flying over 9 hrs from South American (default airport) to AMS (however, avoiding FTX EU/England and Heathrow) in the IFLy 747 and landed + taxied to the gate with 493MB VAS remaining.
Good luck

Re: VAS
Hello keino 333
It is funny to read that you have the same results in VAS use with a twice a strong CPU and Videocard
I am running my sim (I7-860 and GTX 780)
So that stated again that not that hardware but issues in related software is causing these issues.
I am 100% sure that not releasing used memory is the mean course of all these OOM, and as Always
developers point to eachother that is not their fault and problems occur to fact other developer don't
follow their rules.
what should be the best that companies like ORBX and P3D combine their base products in 1 product
so can be tested extensively to get all errors out in regard to memory leaks.

Re: VAS
Folks,
Merry Christmas. Did a full clean uninstall and reinstall of P3D, reinstalled, Admin the works, removed FSUIPC, SODE, complete re-work. Tested Aerosoft A320, immersion, ASCA,EVNTEX,AS16, did some go arounds with the LITEX pack and zero issues. I will continue testing and report. From now on, with every P3D update, hotfix etc, i will do a complete overhaul.

Omg...the thought of having to reinstall a ton of addons after every update or even hotfix gives me nightmaresolsbluesfan wrote:Folks,
