YSSY Gate assignment by ATC

Post by smoothchat » Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:52 am

Sorry for my newbie question.

I have been flight-simming for years, but have just started trying to do it seriously.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding something, but if I fly from Melbourne to Sydney, on arrival, ATC keep sending me to a cargo gate (F16) even if there are plenty of free domestic gates.

Turning off AI Aircraft makes no difference.

I am using ...

PMDG 737
FTX AUS4
FTX YMML
FlyTampa YSSY

Am I missing something?

is your aircrafts parking code in the aircraft.cfg matching the one assigned to the gate?

in the aircraft folder youre flying, the aircraft.cfg file needs the following entries to ensure right gates is assigned

the aircraft.cfg can modified using notepad

atc_parking_codes= the code for whichever airline ( for eg virgin is assigned VOZ , Qantas - QFA)
atc_parking_types=GATE

so say u r flying virgin and you have that code in your aircraft.cfg then u will be assigned to any gate(available) at YSSY that has the gates with that code . of course that is gates where virgin parks in real

Do you mean that FSX/P3D don't know your airline from the flight number prefix?

That's correct; you need the parking code designation in the airfract's CFG file. I've downloaded very few liveries from PMDG's operations center that have them, usually with the exception of Alaskan liveries (maybe whoever paints Alaska's liveries takes the extra 2 seconds to add it).

Also, it should be noted that this only works when the airport/scenery developer has coded the gates in the AFCAD with the proper designations. The overwhelmingly majority of scenery developers tend to do just that, FlyTampa included. I just peeked at the YSSY AFCAD and all of the gates have been designated...
