Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
Thanks guys.
I've not tested FTX AU yet but I expect it to work fine. We have a custom mesh & photo scenery so they should prevent any anomalies. FTX global works great, in fact its better with it.
I'm not modelling the city. The default city isn't terrible anyway. It'll be nice if Limesim or someone could make it but its a bridge too far for me. I do however have lots of surroundings, The Refinery, Docks, IKEA, all the Coward St hotels & loads of fast food restaurants.
FS9s fate is still unknown. In the earlier stages of development I had some technical problems which forced me to step over the FS9 compatibility line. The photscenery is also FSX only, so if there is a fs9 version, it will be just the airport. I'm intending on releasing only fsx / p3d initially.
Cheers

Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
Hi George,
I think most FS9 users here would be ecstatic for just the YSSY airport with no photo-scenery or surroundings.
If it is possible (given the technical issues), FlyTampa would be the ONLY provider of a quality FS9 Australian airport - NO other vendors have developed an airport of equivalent quality for the Australian region.
Theres evidently demand throughout this thread - I think it'd be a great opportunity (assuming it's feasibility). I'd happily pay extra for it too.
Just some food for thought. Great work!

I too would like to know if ORBX FTX AU is confirmed as being "FT YSSY" friendly...

I agree with Davie. Something is always better than nothing, and all of us in the FS9 community know it will be really something good coming from FlyTampa, even if it is a knocked down version of the FSX product.
Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
Please, please try and produce a version for FS9! I have been waiting for many years for a decent version of my home town airport, and it would be heartbreaking to miss out now.
Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
Hi George,
thanks you for sharing the screenshots with us.
I would also be delighted if you will offer a FS9 version and would buy it immediately even there is no photoscenery etc.

Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
I, as a user of FS2004, would also buy the scenery (even without surroundings or another eyecandy features) without even to blink my eyes.
Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
But surely we should be letting FS2004/FS9 slide gently into history by now. At some point there has to be an announcement that FSX and Win8 are the foundations of the future?

Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
I would not give up on FS9 yet, there are developers still working with it, and people still designing for FS2002 ( this one I don't understand). Believe it or not, there are brand new computers out there that can not handle FSX, and there are people out there that still love FS9, and just don't care about seeing wet concrete when it rains.mcdonar wrote:But surely we should be letting FS2004/FS9 slide gently into history by now. At some point, FS9 and FSX will fade into the sunset, and we will be left with P3D, and X-plane. Who knows, maybe someone someday will design and distribute and grow a me flight sim like Microsoft did for so long. As for Windows 8.... I don't see that one happening. That are to many issues with it already, several developers have stated that there products will never be compatible with it, and even Microsoft has said that it was never meant to support a gaming rig. I think that windows 8 is the new version of windows vista.

George, YSSY is looking amazing, can not wait to see more images.

Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
FSX is from 2006, so almost 8 years old. I'm not so sure that it's a foundation of the future.mcdonar wrote:But surely we should be letting FS2004/FS9 slide gently into history by now. At some point there has to be an announcement that FSX and Win8 are the foundations of the future?
If you're into airliner flights between large commercial hubs using add-on scenery and realistic AI then FSX is still a no-go performance wise. Even on new high end hardware.
A top of the range CPU of 2014 is at most 70% faster per core than a top of the range CPU of 2008. Unfortunately FSX is basically a single core application.
Re: Sydney YSSY Preview One
Once P3D goes 64bit, all you fs9 dinosaurs will be left a very long way behind.
Great Sydney shots George.
