My wife's currently studying Maths for a degree course and likes the stats side of things. One interesting factoid is that a poll of about 250 people is generally representative of the wider views, provided the sample is properly random. If you polled something political about one party at a convention for their opposition, you're not getting a random sample, so it has to be "vox pop" in some neutral venue, at which point 250 people is actually representative. If that surprises you, don't worry, it surprised me too.MidgeyMidget2 wrote:Less than 200 people is not the best representation of thousands of people in the market for flight simulator addons. If I see a poll where there are over 1000 respondents, then I think you can consider the data 'reliable.' But I have yet to see such numbers for "FSX or FS9" polls.newmanix wrote:Besides we all know there are more FSX users over FS9, the point of the poll is to show how many people still use FS9, now you have a darn good idea.
Poll - FSX or FS9?

Just because you disagree with what someone posts does not make them the "black sheep of the FS community". If that were true, his IP would be in every forum database across the internet, and he couldn't post anywhere. Everybody gripes about James, but none of you can resist responding and forcing James to defend himself.MidgeyMidget2 wrote:You are the black sheep of the FS community.

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
Can we please have a poll where we can vote on our opinion of
JamesChams
and his continual bashing FS9
Vote "yes" if you want to see his continstant replys for the removal of FS9 on this forum and others
" No " if you are not offended by FS9 or don;t care about it
and " Oh please" if you want to see him get hit by a bus and squashed like the anoying bug he is becomming and maybe lose an arm so he can't type, and we dont have to read his constant ramlings about the end of a flight sim platform
I would ask all readers to vote on this or I am sure someone will say its not a trure reflection on how the forum feels
OH PLEASE

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?

Do notice, how this has become a *BASH James* thread, again, instead of the "FS9 vs. FSX" one it is suppose to be...Bruce Hamilton wrote:Just because you disagree with what someone posts does not make them the "black sheep of the FS community". So, I say ...

FS9 is DOA and FSX may even outlast MS Flight... since very few developers will likely meet the the NDA agreement that MS is requiring for its compatibility, at least that is the current situation.

So, ... the FSWhine/9 vote here loses, again, for the present and in the long term as I predicted.
But, I do have another query for you'll to consider... Why is it that *FSWhiners/FS9'ers* seem to get everything wrong all the time ... wrong system, wrong FS version, wrong settings, wrong FPS, wrong behavior on forums, wrong attitudes in flight and otherwise

The first one with the *right answer* gets a FREE FSX FlyTampa product!

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
I now realise James is mentally challanged. So with that result, I feel sorry for you James. Shame on Umberto for bannng so many times a retard. We just didn't realise. We all just thought you were dumb and stupid... Not that you arn't that too though...

Is that all you and your buddies at "South Park" can come up with??? (Just personal insultants
, How immature of you'll???
)
FYI: When, actual aviators (oh, thats too big a word for "South Park", How's - *pilots*) like myself
(you know something you all can only pretend to be in the sim
) get medically cleared [ for Part 91, 121 or 135 operations for any one that has a 1st Class (Which I have
) or 2nd Class medical ] we get a mental competency check as part of our Air Worthyness evaluation. So, I've proof that I'm sane and stable; what's your proof that you are anything other than an FS'Whiner/9'er?

FSX *Still alive and kicking*, FS9 DOA!!!

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
Jul 14, 2011 and 167 votes. A Mars weather foecast is more accurate than the results of this fs9 vintage poll
. I guess the majority of FT users didn't even know about this poll.

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
To James: No one likes a know-it-all, least of all one that acts like a douche. So how about just throttle it back.
For everyone else: The point of the poll was just to get a rough idea. Clearly it isn't an accurate representation of the FS community. Like George said, alot of FSXers could care less because their sim isn't the one that is on the verge of going away. It's like feedback for some products that you buy online. The satisfied customers are usually fairly silent and the complainers are usually the most vocal.

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
And James, under FAR part 61, you're supposed to be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language. I'm finding that you're quite deficient in this area. You touting about having a 1st class medical means squat unless you're an ATP, which, you're not! What do you even mean by saying you have 8 x 1st class medicals? You can only have ONE medical. If you have a 1st class, and don't get another medical within 1 calendar year, then it defaults to a 2nd class, and then a 3rd class after 1 calendar year... And you're wrong about there being a mental competency check - there is a questionnaire about being diagnosed with psychosis, severe multiple personality disorder, or bipolarism. If you've never been diagnosed, and/or you don't check the box for any of those three things, you're overlooked. So, you have no proof, unless your AME is also a psychiatrist (which I doubt they are). Another thing; air worthiness (I refuse to misspell it as you have) is part of an aircraft check, not of the pilot. Are you a sport or recreational pilot? I mean, come on, you're making the rest of us real-world pilots look very very bad!JamesChams wrote:Is that all you and your buddies at "South Park" can come up with??? OK, so I checked the FAA Airman website. James, you don't have an ATP, as your DOI was 4/23/2010. You're a SEL private pilot, so don't look down upon those that "only pretend" to do what you do in "the sim." Besides, studies show that pilots who train in simulators make for better pilots. Shame on you James.

RE English: Yes, but there is no penalties for misspellings on this forum for the FAA.

So, I have a few English spelling typo's in this post, very few here can even spell, let alone other things mentioned. And, I don't know what you are talking about here ..." 8 x 1st class medicals" ?

Next, I've held a 1st Class for more then 2 decades and yes I do have all the other type ratings and some categories, including a rotary (but NOT seaplanes, balloon, etc.). But, for my personal security, they are NOT available for the general public viewing on the FAA site, post 9/11; that won't change till I'm retired (I guess). I've mentioned that before in other places. Furthermore, our company REQUIRES that our AME's give us a pschy. eval. as part of our medical, for insurance reasons, although it is not an FAA Requirement. Thus, my competency statement earlier.

So, while you may feel that I'm bashing these *boys* for their foolishness, a little too much, they've more than earned it. I see no shame in helping fool(s) mend their ways.

FYI, I have my own Sim for that very purpose, so I encourage them to *play* ... But, perhaps they should do it in FSX instead, huh???
