Out of Memory Error - iFly 737

Post by kevchris » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:59 pm

I have noticed an issue while flying the iFly 737-700 into KTPA. About 13 NM from the airport, the simulator crashes with the following message: "Your Computer has run out of available memory. Flight Simulator will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard drive. Run Disk Cleanup to free up space then try running Flight Simulator again"

This happens each time I attempt an approach from either direction. Not sure if this is a problem that arises from the combination of the iFly 737 and FlyTampa's KTPA. Will try with other aircraft and see if the problem happens again.

Any ideas for resolution would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

I used to have that issue every once in a while when I was running Vista32 with 4gb ram. Once I upgraded to Vista64 and added another 4gb of ram (8gb total), I didn't have that problem anymore. What are your system specs?

You should be fine with those specs. I'm running Win XP SP3 32bit, E8400 with 2GB of RAM and a 1GB GTS250, on FSX and haven't had any OOM issues with this airport, and that's in the LDS767 and other similar complex a/c.

I dont know if it would make a difference but do you have your page file set correctly?

I think there's something to be said here. I'm running in to the same problem with IFly 737 and KTPA. I have a Dell XPS system with very similar specs, and I get the same error at about the same distance on approach. I can take off from TPA just fine, but I cannot finish a flight there. Also, doesn't seem to have a problem with any other aicraft.

So, does anyone know a solution? Is it a missing texture file within FlyTampa's KTPA, or some type of conflict between the iFly 737 and the KTPA scenery. Both the plane and the scenery are great products so there has to be a way to get them to play nice together.

What other addons do you have installed and/or running? ActiveSky, Ground type stuff, etc?

Let's see. REX, Ultimate Terrain. I believe that is it.

Just out of curiousity, have you tried disabling those others and then trying the flight?

I'm getting the same results at KTPA with the iFly 737. Has to be something with one or the other with all of these different folks chiming in.

Hello All -

I have completed numerous flights to KTPA using both the iFly 737 and now the Quality Wings 757 and with both aircraft, I get a OOM crash approximately 15 miles from the airport. I am no expert, but I am guessing that as KTPA loads it causes a memory issue that stops the simulator with an OOM message. Now, I tried flying into Tampa using the Wilco 737 PIC, and even though the system did not crash, I noticed a few strong "hesitations" at about the same distance from the airport.

As add-ons, I am using Active Sky Evolution for my weather, Ultimate Terrain, and REX. I am curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem and if a solution can be found. It is very frustrating.

Thank you for any help that can be provided. Again, I am pasting my systems specs below.

Kevin

• 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Factory O/C 3.6 GHz, 1600 MHz FSB)
• Jetline (Zalman) Premium Air Cooler
• Nvidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset
• 4GB DDR2 System Memory @1066 MHz
• Radeon 5850 HD Video Card
• 750 Watt Corsair SLI Power Supply (750TX)
• 150GB VelociRaptor 10,000 RPM Performance Drive (HDD)
• 20X DVD/CD Burner with Lightscribe Technology

Have you tried it without the Overclocking? I used to get OOMs after about 30mins flying, turned out even though my temps were cool, my memory just couldn't handle the overclocking.

After dialling down the CPU 200Mhz, it can fly for hours.

He (Kevin) needs to see the IFly Forum....search for the "4GB patch"...it resolved all my CTDs this and including areosoft products...
(sidenote...I had the very same problem when flying ifly/CLS/Qsimwings equipment--after patch sky is the limit and I did not need to turn off any other addons)....

cheers

The disabling of other addons suggestion is only part of the trouble shooting. If you disable addons one at a time and try the flight and it doesn't CTD then you know which addon is causing the issue.

So....?
