Hi George
Nice work
Can you answer a question for me what kind of programs are you using to design these airports. I figure since no one whats to do any airports like KSLC OR BOISE I thought with my ecperience I would try to design a Nice KSLC anyway thanks

Although I can more or less guess the programs, I would like to know as well for sure........unless it's a FlyTampa secret recipe of course!

3ds Max & Photoshop mostly. Gmax & The Gimp can be used instead (for free) though.
Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
I was almost right....! I bet on GMAX & Photoshop and maybe ADE??
BTW, very good little utility the GImp. I didn't know about it.
Thanks George

No because the surroundings in FSX have no noticeable seasons.SpartaN wrote:George, will flyAthens include snow textures like Vienna?
I know it can snow there, but it would stupid to have snow on my airport if the surroundings are still looking like summer.

Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
George everything looks great I hope you would consider like Salt lake city we who fly out west are in need of some airports like KSLC or Even a nice boise Idaho anyway just a thought nice work on your other stuff..
Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
OK then, not a problem at all. I thought the snow textures showed only in case of snow that's why I asked.george[flytampa] wrote:No because the surroundings in FSX have no noticeable seasons.SpartaN wrote:George, will flyAthens include snow textures like Vienna?

Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
Hey George, just wondering what trade-offs gmax has over 3ds Max. I'm going to start some modeling next month but I don't see access to anything but gmax in the near future. If I am only intending to make airport associated objects (terminals, jetways, hangars, runways, etc.) will there be any severe limitations?george[flytampa] wrote:3ds Max & Photoshop mostly. Gmax I don't remember very well; I've not used it since i made Seattle.catchman86 wrote:Hey George, just wondering what trade-offs gmax has over 3ds Max. The small load/save dialog used to annoy me.
I currently use a bunch of poly modelling & UVW mapping tools which are scripts & plugins that won't work in GMAX.
These tools automate & speed up repetitive tasks, nice, but not essential.
Max also supports Ambient Occlusion & Shadow Baking which we've been employing recently, not that anyone notices

Max prob has 1000s of advantages but theres no reason why you can't do as good with GMAX.
FS development on the art side is actually very simple & its rare you'll need any of the advance features max offers.
Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
I'm taking 3Dsmax lessons this year.....!
I hope it won't be too different from GMAX, though I've never used it as it's quite......costly

Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
George when your making terminals and stuff do you use allot of splines? in some Tutorials out there, even the ms team one have you starting out with a box and using Extrude and stuff like that. just wondering.george[flytampa] wrote:Gmax I don't remember very well; I've not used it since i made Seattle.catchman86 wrote:Hey George, just wondering what trade-offs gmax has over 3ds Max. Re: Is FlyTampa working on Athens?
I only really use splines for the taxiway markings & pipes.
For terminals, I just start with a box.
