Boston V3 outside the airport not accurate

Post by timmo73 » Sat Nov 28, 2009 1:16 pm

I was going to get Boston V3 but it's not accurate outside the airport. There's a big fort right on the other side of the airport that I always used to watch the planes right before it lands. There's a pier on the side of the fort and walkways in the middle of the water. Everybody seems to miss the fort every time for some reason. Families usually gather around there. On the 4th of July the fort fires its cannons as they turn around the USS Constitution. They call it fort independence. You probably missed putting in the JFK library and the USS Constitution in Boston Harbor. You can't miss the fort. They call it castle island as well. Below, is some information on it. I lived in Boston for 16 years.

Timmo,

Scenery develovers VERY rarely do customization\expansion of areas outside actual airport's buidings, hangars and rnwys. There are some rare occurence such as FT VHHX or C9 EHAM, where city areas were modeled. Other than that - be gracious for developers. It's the product for KBOS airport, not for Boston Area. Aerosoft and Photoscenery do such things for cities - please contact them with such requests.

Timothy, I have to draw the line somewhere. I know perfectly well I excluded the castle. Truth is, i didn't have enough finances to have continued Boston development further.

I could add it later if you like? It'll be very basic though.

I'm quite angry that you didn't just revamp the entire scenery of Boston...I mean, come on. How hard can that be? :P

Anyways, I'm happy to say that I received some money for my birthday and will be buying right after I finish checking the forums. :D

castle island

The problem is the fort is right across the way from the airport thresh hold on runways 4L and 4R before landing. The plane flies right over your head before landing. It spoils the whole airport because it's missing. The plane is so low that you can see it and the restaurants right next to it. In fact, we were so low that the USS Constitution had to wait because the mast was so high before landing. The USS Constitution was getting turned around the the 4th of July. The other stuff doesn't matter but that fort you can see from the airport. It has cannons on it and everything. The thing is you can see the fort across the way when taxiing at the airport.

The fort is there....in the photoscenery. :P

I honestly don't understand why it is such a big deal. When you are a pilot flying into Boston, that isn't going to be what you see. If anything, you'll make sure to see the large container ships at the docks as they are right below you when you are landing.

Our models...

We've got some unreleased Boston area scenery (like the bunker hill monument, the CITGO sign, etc.) which we may "donate" to george's fans...

Just off a stretch of business trips - give me a few days and I'll get in touch with the FS-Freeflow group and I'll let you know what we can do to further the cause!

Thanks George and everyone at FlyTampa!

I'll be releasing a V3.1 patch within the next few days that will include Fort Independence & a few bug fixes for other issues.

Here's a shot of the fort....
