The World Rankings in FS Airport Scenerys
The World Rankings in FS Airport Scenerys
Well i have been sitting here thinking just how fortunate we all are to have a team like FLY TAMPA that make without a doubt the greatest most attractive airports without any other team coming close....
FLY TAMPA
Now i must admit the only downfall with "Kai Tak" and there is only 1!!! is that the AI traffic flightplans need updating or changing to VHHX from VHHH which can take some time depending on how many airlines you have flying to Hong Kong, me myself had to edit 89 airlines which was a pain but the results are well worth it. Lighting, buildings, ships, cars, harbours all so well put together and just proves how far ahead FT are against Aerosoft /FS Dreamteam & Blueprint. FT also have Miami & Tampa airports which are both screaming for a make over, & Dubai which is a beauty, a little outdated but still great needs a surounding autogen update. San Francisco remains excellent, San Diego also and Seattle/Boston are beautys! I also love Vienna which is brill in winter with those great winter textures!
AEROSOFT
Now when Heathrow 2008 came out i was amazed at how much detail there was but then i was thrown back by the following downfalls...
1. T5 Nightlighting very poor & unreal
2. Taxiway (concrete slabs are awfully designed), Grass textures poor
3. Frames are lost
4. No surounding autogen
An update was released and this improved the afcad & runway textures yes but the same issues still stand above.
Aerosoft make very attractive scenerys as well but miss whatever factor FT are using to keep frames a small issue, I mean Frankfurt, Heathrow, Barajas, Paris are all excellent but they all suffer from hard frame problems especially when you have AI usage! Now the X series of scenerys is fast pouring out from Aerosoft...Like Tahiti X & Madeira X and London X; these all look breathe taking but im sure they hit frames like a thai hooker in a shoe sale!!!!
FS DREAMTEAM
Now a team i think have huge talent but miss 2 things, they are missing the talent to deal with Frame loses bigtime and ground textures. Take the new JFK scenery, awesome and great to finally have JFK in its glory BUT it seems as tho the airport sits on a Google earth photographic shot from above which gives the airport a used effect on txiways etc yes but also removes a level of tidyness and then the frames!! Again as i mentioned Chicago is the worst, its visually stunning but frames are a big issue. Thing is FSDT are making a Las Vegas & Geneva scenery now and im sure the same issues will stand, good luck to them, i know itll look great but how well will it perform?!?!?!!?
BLUEPRINT SIMULATIONS
Okay the team that makes the USA airports, right now this one will be short, its great to get a huge selection of airports in the US but in my opinion these are rather poor in realism. Night enviroments are awful, building textures & ground textures poor, there are better designers out there.
UK2000
Right here we go...
The Xtreme series are excellent, no doubt about it, I saw that UK2000 had released their own version of LHR X and it looks great, against LHR 2008 from Aerosoft i dont know but its great to have 2 high class options. Gatwick X is another excellent creation, looks great and only lacks 2 things, Frames & taxiway textures (some not all!!!). Stansted, Bristol, Edinburgh & Glasgow all great to fly into! We all would love to see Liverpool/Manchester & Luton remade tho!!!
Overland Japan Airports
I have Vol.3 and i must say there is potential here but there are a few messy textures & night lighting is very poor, but it does enhance otherwise a very dead looking default japan.
To be fair, all the designers here are respected and we as the buying public only want to see the best of the talents here, for those of us still using FS9 the urge to move over to FSX is ever growing as more tempting addons come out, we thank all of you for taking the time to make the FS world as much a joy as it is to fly in!!!
I would love to see these 5 airports made or remade
1. Bangkok VTBD & VTBS (Thailand)
2. Dallas Ft Worth (USA)
3. Detriot (USA)
4. Mumbai (India)
5. Johannesburg (South Africa)

QFT - how can they ever sleep at night again after ripping "the buying public" with that overpriced amateur crap? I demand they repay all of "the buying public" and go out of business instantly!bradley27 wrote:Aerosoft /FS Dreamteam & Blueprint ... Overland ...

Oh yeh, FSdt's ORD and JFK look just as great and run just as well as any FT scenery on my 4 years old Pentium-M... just like Aerosoft's LHR, MAD and ARN. Must be something screwed up on your end of the line.

Re: The World Rankings in FS Airport Scenerys
Let me preface this with "I swear I'm not trying to pick on them". But what is the deal with the googleearth-like ground texture issue? That just sounds like an amatureish move that I first assumed was a bug or an oversight for JFK. Have they said anything about it? As for fps, what is the difference between their work and the default?bradley27 wrote: FS DREAMTEAM

I wish these guys would get on the FSX bandwagon. I really like their work and would like to see it in FSX.bradley27 wrote: Overland Japan Airports

Re: The World Rankings in FS Airport Scenerys
They say they made it exactly like ORD except it is a different type of ground (concrete, pavement, whatever...I don't know the specifics) so that is why it gives the effect of it being the Google Earth like textures. I don't know though. I've seen plenty of sceneries (FlyTampa, ImagineSim) that the airports they have designed use the same ground type as JFK does and their airports don't look like Google Earth.skydvdan wrote:But what is the deal with the googleearth-like ground texture issue? Re: The World Rankings in FS Airport Scenerys
They can say whatever they want to, but that's obviously bullshit. There's no way these textures look the way they are because they're of a "different" type. Some are indeed quite detailed and crisp, but only around the aprons, the taxiways are an obvious copy and paste job. They cut corners, it's as simple as that. My take on it is that they really wanted to rush it to market and didn't have the time to craft them proper. I hope they don't pull the same kind of crap with Lost Vages or I feel a lot of people will reconsider buying it.MidgeyMidget2 wrote: They say they made it exactly like ORD except it is a different type of ground (concrete, pavement, whatever...I don't know the specifics) so that is why it gives the effect of it being the Google Earth like textures. You left out FlightZone or Flight Senery whatever they call it...
Those lousy sap suckers keep the site running but they are all dead... rumor is they are doing the VFR France seneries which SUCK!
Anyway my point is they should rank #2 behind Fly Tampa as their work is better than Aerosoft and FSDT.
I may get some attacks but I don't care. The FlightZone seneries are also very frame rate friendly as well. I sure hope they come back!!! I need KGEG!!!

No you don't.Flight1000 wrote:Flightscenery is awesome stuff, I have their Jacksonville and Washington DC. I eagerly await what they conjour up next...
The only two products they released were Rhode Island and Portland, OR. You are claiming to have sceneries that were fifth and sixth on their list of sceneries to create (the status hasn't changed on that list for years). That company fell apart.

Brandley, yes, you did forget FlightScenery, they made superb scenerys like FlyTampa, sad that they are unactive at this moment. About Overland airports, one thing that they are best of all in, traffic on the ground and stuff that puts there airports much to live, and with no framerate issue. I would like to see that more from others companys like FlyTampa, FSDream and others.

although not released this looks like it is going to be a really nice scenery.
