Kai tak and Hong Kong a possibility?
Kai tak and Hong Kong a possibility?
G'day
Firstly i must congratulate Fly Tampa on the amazing scenery the have released so far.
I picked up the Dubai scenery after seeing some screenshots and was so amazed i went straight out and picked up the KSFO,KMIA and KSAN scenery.
Exceptional.
I have noticed in a couple of posts below the discussion re future releases and i am wondering what the chances are of you doing the most famous airport of them all Kai Tak?
Given the current state of affairs where the only payware release has major texture problems which will remain unfixed and the freeware releases are riddled with crippling FPS issues maybe Flytampa could come to the rescue.
Given your ability with Gmax and FPS optimizing i'd say you may be one of the few if only developer who could do this amazing airport and city justice but still make it flyable for the average guys machine.
This topic sprung up at Avsim and with luck a few others have been checking out your scenery and commenting on how poor the Flightsoft one is and also the possibility of someone getting out an amazing Kai Tak which always remain as about the most challenging airport in heavy aircraft history.
I'd say a good Kai Tak would be a killer in the sales department as well given its fame and dangerous reputation.
What do you reckon??
Thanks for all the great work.

I would like to second that!
Concerning the nostalgic Kai Tak Airport with the Hong Kong area, Darran Howie described in excellent wording the strong desire of a huge number of flightsimmers to see this back in a quality like Fly Tampa already designed the sceneries for San Francisco, San Diego and Dubai.
Paddy.

no doubt:flying the Kai Tak is the best dream for many virtual pilots.
i think many of us need a scenery that give the feel and the adrenaline of IGS13.
Please, don't let this area undone (considering the poor quality of the actual scenery...).
also,it could be the first FlyTampa attempt to ricreate a city, not just an airport (and u do this in a superb way).
Ciao

I have been impressed with Thomas Kwong's versions since FS98 but understand he currently does not have the time to devote to a new version.
Although I only have your version of 'Frisco (your other airports I don't normally fly to although I am very tempted with Dubai) I am very impressed with the visual quality and frame rates of your products, far better than another well known developer.
I am sure if you had access to photos, plans, drawings etc that you could produce an outstanding rendition of Kai Tak and I doubt you would have difficulty selling it, at least to the discerning virtual pilot.
Someone suggested Tokyo Narita. I seem to remember a group of Japaneese freeware developers doing a lot of the Japanese airports, at least in FS2002, not sure if they have produced anything for FS9 though.
Please seriously consider Kai Tak, I know you would make a lot of pilots very happy.
Thanks for listening.

when the 747-200 will die,are u sure you will never fly it thorugh FS?Bodo Mueller wrote:It does not make sense at all to do a an airport which does not exist anymore. Kai Tak is closed for several years and the runway has been broken up.

Bodo, this is simulation,so it is reasoning fly in that wonderful airport, despite its absence in reality.
