I started on KIND a few weeks ago (work there). While I'm not ready to show it off just yet, it's coming along nicely, in regard to modelling. Texturing isn't really my thing, so I may have my partner with another simulator help me, or I'll put myself through some rigorous schooling in that regard.

Cheers,

you do realize that IND is building a midfield terminal, and going to raze the old one, right?

Well, having worked there for the last 3 years, I was wondering what all that construction equipment on the south side of 23R/5L was, and why they built a new 300 foot control tower, along with a new interchange off I-70 on the south side of the airport. As the comedian Bill Engvall likes to say, "Here's your sign!"

Seriously though, I've known about the construction of the midfield terminal since it was conceived, and know the basic layout of the new taxiways and midfield terminal area well enough to start modelling it. They haven't started building the terminal yet, just grading the land where it will be located. They have the new control tower built, the interchange is almost finished off I-70, and they have a good start on the new taxiway on the south side of 23R/5L. They're also seriously considering a third parallel runway south of 23L/5R to be used solely by FedEx, or so I was told. I've chatted with the airport authority on ocassion and have learned a great deal about it from them. But, the new midfield terminal isn't supposed to be open until 2007, so starting and completing the airport as it is now wouldn't be falling too far behind the construction curve. Similar to how Martin's KMIA has evolved since he started it.

I gotta say, Indy fits the FlyTampa profile...underappreciated airport with sizable traffic, (especially if you consider FedEx!), expanding which means construction which FlyMiami proved is done better by Martin than any other group in FS history, and no I don't think that's an exaggeration by any means. It has just one major flaw. It's in the Midwest. For whatever reason if it's in the midwest it's off the map, and I'm not referring to just Flytampa, add Simflyers, anyone you want.

Let's see...

KMDW - Chicago Midway
KDTW - Detroit Metro / Wayne County
KIND - The aforementioned Indy
KSTL - Lambert
KMEM - Memphis Int'l
KMSP - Minneapolis / St. Paul
KBNA - Nashville
KMKE - Milwaukee
KMCI - Kansas City
KOMA - Omaha
KOKC - Oklahoma City

The list goes on and on, for some reason the developers like to stick to the coast, must be the weather...Tampa, Miami, San Diego, San Francisco, and soon La Guardia and Seattle...all along the coast.

It'd be nice to have somewhere to stop in the middle of the country and Indy would be a great project.

That being said, glad to see someone has picked up on the project and there is some hope, OSS recently released screenies for KMCI and they look amazing!!! If you haven't checked them out yet, I strongly urge you to do so.

In the meantime, congrats to FlyTampa of SFO. It looks incredible. You guys are the best game in town so I guess having all of us midwesterners whine about how we have no where to fly around here comes with the territory. Cannot wait for what's next but FlyBigI has a nice ring to it I think. Keep up the good work guys!!!

flysiu: that is a very good list, but I would change 2 things on it.

1. Add St. Louis (KSTL)

2. Take off Kansas City (KMCI), because if you look at this http://www.onlinesimulationsolutions.co ... wtopic=375 someone is already making KMCI, and by the looks of the photos it is coming along nicely.
