Problem: Any ideas...

Post by Sundog » Mon Apr 16, 2007 2:06 am

...as to what add-on I have that would be causing it would be great, because I haven't been able to locate the conflict. Also, my planes do sink through the airport and parts of the inner bay to the north of the airfield "climb" coastlines.

I've looked for conflicting AFCAD's and have been trying to locate a mesh conflict. I don't have any payware TCNM but I do have alot of freeware for the area and I disabled what I knew was added, but I'm obviously missing something.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Here's a pic of the problem seen from the sky obviously related to coastline/landclass.

I don't think that is our scenery (yet). Go into the FS Scenery library, see if there is an entry "FlyTampa-Maarten". It should be right on top. If it isn't, click the Add Button, browse to FS2004/Addon Scenery/FlyTampa-Maarten to add it. Once it is on the list, quit and restart FS.

Doh! I sure feel sutpid! ;)

I thought since I OK'd the install to update the cfg file I wouldn't have to do that. So I did what you said, and what do you know, a beautiful FlyTampa scenery is installed. :D

Now, a few questions.

1) My frame rates were excellent when I launched from St. Maarten in the Carenado C206 and flew around the bay to the north and circled back around and headed east. Once I was over the south east end of the island my frame rates dropped to between zero (super stutter) and one fps. Would the best way to stop this be to remove the ship animation?

2) Are those arresting cables on the runway at TFFG?

3) TFFJ is one of the best looking runways I ever slammed on to! It's a good thing that C206 is a tough plane. Actually, I should have regenerated my scenery on final, but I didn't so sometimes I end up with a sort of PIO/scenery gen lag/control response time which is why I set her down so hard. Beautifully rendered airport, though! I'll fly from there to SABA later tonight.

If you have a performance slowdown near TFFG (Grand Case airport) it is most likely because of the TFFG freeware Addon . If you see an entry "Grand Case" in your scenery Database, deactivate it temporarily to check if this is the issue. I know I get a massive performance hit when it is installed.

I checked, I don't have that file. Also, the frame rate also dropped really low on the flight between TFFJ and SABA, right after I was just south of the island when departing TFFJ. As I got close to SABA, it picked back up again..

I am not aware of anything that would cause these slowdowns, especially since you are flying over open water with nothing in view.

Only candidate I can think of would be the AI-Ships. As a test, deactivate AI Traffic completely under FS's Settings and test if the slowdown still happens.

FYI, I turned off AI and now it's all flyable for me. Thanks Martin, I love it. :)
