Future Project Ideas

Post by american101 » Fri Jul 16, 2004 8:12 am

I know some of you mentioned MDW and MCI, but OSS productions has already started the design and so far I like what I see about MCI.

Most of you are right with Southwest hubs, it seems like they have never been ,the same with ATA. Here are my top USA airport candidates

-IND (begging to be done, also ATA hub)
-STL (AA hub)
-BWI
-MEM (what ever happened, Northwest and Fedex hub just forgotten)
-SAT
-OMA (good midwest airport)

International:
Bahamas package plus EYW

I hope you guys agree, stay away from airports that Simflyers has already done or FsBrazil. We don't need double airports, we want are ones that been have neglected.

Well I think

Charlotte Douglass (CLT)
Oklahoma City (OKC)
Knoxville Mcghee Tyson (TYS)
Myrtle Beach (MYR)
Birmingham (BHM)
New Orleans (MSY)
Memphis (MEM)
Dallas Love Field (DAL)
Greensboro High Point (GSO)

I think Charlotte should be done it is USAIRWAYS hub. I can provide pictures if needed I live about 20 miniutes away from it.

Indianapolis, DEFINATELY!

It looks like St. Louis is on Simflyers list of airports to do, and if PHX is any indication, they are making great strides in the framerates department, Phoenix is absolutely stunning as well! That being said, I certainly would'nt shed a tear if Flytampa went for it. And I am glad to see someone finally has picked up Midway! I cannot wait.

Some others...

BWI is another one that somehow has been overlooked by both payware and freeware designers alike. That would be a great project!

Detroit would be a good 'massive' project to do. The new terminal is quite a stunning site to see I must say.

Houston Hobby, West Palm Beach, and Nashville would be smaller projects that would be great.

Pittsburgh...never been done by anyone...

And last but not least...Pensacola, FL...yeah I know, no chance in hell but I had to put it out there haha!

Anyways, I'm sure we got lots of good stuff to come. The current lineup is pretty sweet as it is! Keep 'em coming!

I'm still holding out for a FlyTampa Los Angeles International :D
Simflyers has one, but it sucks big time. And their update is sure to kill my frames...

Well, whatever the upcoming future projects are I for one hope that they will be geographically close together - so that one can fly between them without resorting to 4x, 8x rate.

I also put my vote in for KIND. I worked at the ATA hangar up until just after 9/11 when a good chunk of the work force there was layed off. Rather than wait to be called back or sent to MDW I decided to pursue other interests. Anyhow, since Martin seems to like construction scenes (ala KMIA), IND is now in full swing on the Midfield Terminal project, with the new 300 foot tower very near completion. Ground had been leveled where the new terminal will go, and the new taxiway parallel to 23R/5L has been started with the first pouring of concrete. Being FedEx's 2nd largest hub, along with ATA's headquarters (their main hub is MDW, offices here in IND), KIND has lots to offer. Up until a couple years ago United had one of its main maintenance centers on the northwest side of the airport (hardly recognizable in the default scenery). It's now sitting dormant waiting for the new owner to move in, a contract maintenance facility. I've just applied with ATA again, and if I'm able to get back on with ATA getting information, be it GPS data, pictures, detailed construction info, shouldn't be a problem.

I believe Alaska is going to use this hangar. (yea I know it's out of the way for AS, but a low price is a low price anywhere...)

All I see is US airports. US is not the only country in the world :? . I might live in the US, but I prefer flying in Europe much more.

Tourniquet MX I understand what you mean, but take a look at Europe! UK2000, GAP, Austrian AP, Sim-Wings, Scandinavian AP and so on... We have the most of Europe covered!

I also prefer Europe for flying, but that is because of the many 737NG short hops there are to fly in my PMDG NG...

But Imagine when PMDG release their B744! Then you'll be able to fly EU<->US!

So yes I would love to see more US airports

I hope there will be some focus on small to medium sized airports that are often neglected. Examples like:

KMYR Myrtle Beach
KGEG Spokane Int.
KBDL Hartford-Springfield
KFMY Fort Myers
KOKC Oklahoma City
KTUL Tulsa
KDAB Daytona Beach (real nice..could do the speedway too)
KSYR Syracuse Int.

The list goes on, but there are a lot to chose from.
