Skylink Terminal, maybe Update?

Post by AustrianSkies » Wed Aug 30, 2006 4:44 am

Hi there!
I was spotting at Vienna yesterday, and noticed that nearly the hole Skylink Terminal is finished, not without glass and design, but the walls are finished and there are a few kind of renamed parking positions and distances between Parking positions , and a new TL. So maybe can we expect an update? :|

I plan on adding the Skylink terminal yes. ... but it will take some time until it is finsihed and lots of photos from all sides & angles become available. Working on such updates as real life construction progresses is a waste of time because I cannot keep up with the construction.

Hello!

I would be glad to provide you with the mentioned photos from all sides and angles. Maybe you would be able to build a very uncomplicated building representing todays construction progress. Because I´m Vienna Airport Staff it also would not take very long. Thus I have to reming you that with adding "Construction-Skylink" you also probably would have to replace current streets a little bit and also even add you ones, for example the one connections Kilo-Block with the rest of the airport. I also would like to see (and I guess that should be "just" a matter of some hours work) to change all the parking positions to their actual name, for example parkins 7J + do not exist any more, now they are called F45 or F59 for example. Also parking position 89 (and neighbours) are "rotated" 180° because there is a fence in the north. While speaking to a Follow-Me-Driver I was able to catch that this situation should remain until November. So if you need Photos, I will make you some Gigabytes if you wish. :-)

Greetins!

flightrob: That will be great help, thank you. Whatever photos you can provide I will accept gratefully. Naked construction photos can be helpful as well when it comes to seeing the form and size of the building. Inserting an "uncomplicated temporary building" however sounds easier then it is. Sure it is possible to slam a concrete textured rectangle in there similar to how I updated Miami, but that kind of thing would never pass my quality control for Vienna. Whatever we do here needs to be of the best quality possible and I predict that editing the new Skylink into the existing scenery will be a 30+ day job, which is why I only want to do it when I have at least some photos of the terminal walls (material, color, windows etc) as well as position of each jetway. High detail airport design for FS is unfortunately not as "modular" as I wish, inserting the new Skylink (adding a new file) will require editing of a dozen existing files and textures.

It will get done tho

Hi!

Yea I´m looking forward to help you. I´ll be at the airport next sunday, so I could provide you with photos on monday earliest. What I have to correct about my message above is the fact, that the "temporary" street connecting Kilo-Block with the rest of the airport again was replaced but I´m really sure the street has it´s final position. But I also would like to say (and not go in further information in public) is that I possess a CAD-File (2D) with the airport ground and buildings of the airport as it will be in 2010. If you need this, please pm. I will provide you with the photo-link lastest monday. Bye!"

I work at Vienna Intl airport; mainly at the apron. Every week many things change, so in my eyes an update would only make sense when the old handling center buildings are teared down, the new taxiways and skylink parking positions are assigned.

And yes, they have started putting in the windows, facing RWY 11/29, right now.

If you need actual pictures or information concerning the apron feel free to contact me.

Hello!

Yes it is true that the construction site is (fortunatelly!) changing every second. But waiting until everything is set up just takes too long in my eyes. So what I would like to have is the skylink as it is now just to have some concrete in front of the cockpit when parking at 7*. And in next spring or summer we could re-update the construction site.

Greetings!

PS @ xaver: If you like we could meet at the apron just to discus things. :-)
