KLAS runway ILS issues [navigraph]

Post by emilios[flytampa] » Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:25 am

Custom ILS should be read from our FT-Vegas package, otherwise it will always be 'off'. Note that navigraph always positions itself above all other packages, and kills any other custom ILS existing in add-on packages. It is 'global' issue which will be hopefully resolved, since add-on packages need to be able to manipulate terrain, and navaids to fit.

Following this change, you will need to locate your content.xml and make it 'read-only' to block any further changes made to it when MSFS boots.

Prioritise FT-Vegas using the scenery order package tool from the developer menu.
This is a clean solution, to always keep FT-Vegas airport on top. (*the position of the 'city' package will not matter). The other alternative is to keep navigraph at positions 3,4 as they originally install, and move Vegas aiport to position 4. As long as Vegas airport is +1 above navigraph, there will be no issues.

If uncomortable with any of the above, you can temporarity remove Navigraph when flying to KLAS.

Testing the above method.
I rename the ILS idents, as proxy to see which ILS code is being read by the sim. Both ILS 26L (ILSN-instead of IRLE @ 111.500) and ILS 26R (ILSE instead of ILAS @ 110.300) are being detected from our own package/code. These are optimised to be used with FT-Vegas, and are prioritised over navigraph's data.

Thanks for the info, but I've prioritised KLAS in the past (as per another thread), but for some reason I still land well before the threshold when using autoland on ILS26L.

Yes that’s possible you still had that issue with 28L. That should be resolved with the upcoming v1.8

Thanks, looking forward to the new release. Have any other changes been made (like the addition of Taxiway C)?

These changes are part of a bigger update that is underway for Vegas and Nevada

Just tried the latest version and ILS 26L worked great, thanks for the update.

I believe I have my orders set up correctly as navigraph-navdata-base is set to 2 and navigraph-navdata is set to 3. All other add ons are set to 0. I'm still having the glideslope issue at 26L, and I just updated to the most recent version of KLAS via the MSFS marketplace.

Also, do you set the content.xml file to read only once? Will it affect how other add-ons are installed to the sim?

This sounds like Navigraph is still being prioritised. If Navigraph base is 2 and -data at 3, then Vegas airport will need to go to ‘4’ (always need to add +1 above Navigraph). After that’s done, set the content.xml to read-only to prevent further editing. I am not aware of any other add on that needs to edit that file (yet), but also cannot predict if that will be needed at some time in the future.

I understand now that the higher number means it gets loaded later in the process, so Vegas airport at 4 would be correct for me. What I also wasn't sure about was when the content.xml file should be set to 'read only', so thank you for mentioning that too. Is the scenery package order supposed to reset each time the Sim starts, or should it be staying the same after content.xml is set to read only?

My order is...
1. Open the sim and go to the scenery package order
2. Set -airport to '4' so it loads last
3. Click 'apply and save'
4. Set content.xml to read only

After following these steps, when I restart my sim, the scenery package order still shows the packages with the right order numbers, ie-navigraph is at 2 and 3, and -aiport is at 4, but their order in the list doesn't stay the same. -aiport is still set to 4, but it sits amongst all the '0' items in the list. Does that matter?

Thanks for listing out the steps-it should theoretically work as long as the airport priority is higher than navdata. Its strange to hear that the scenery package order sets the 'airport' folder along with the '0' folders, following the reboot, i am not seeing the same here. attaching shots after reboot.

btw, there is no apply and save button on the scenery package order-could you attach a shot please?

When I refer to the apply and save button, the workflow is going to the experimental menu, then switching on the scenery package order tool which then opens the list in a separate window. I reorder the scenery and close out of the window, then press apply and save. Although, I'm guessing that step is pointless in this scenario.
