Can someone explain the need for installers? I was told the current FlyTampa products can be used in P3DV4. I was also told it was a bit tricky to get FlyTampa airports to work in P3DV4.

Are the installers the sure fire way to get FlyTampa airports working in P3DV4??? Is that was all this buzz is about. Please explain to me as I am not too savvy on this topic (but am a big FlyTampa fan)

FlyTampa has published some updates for P3Dv4, but these are manually installations. And still strange issues occurs. A native P3Dv4 installer lets you also install the scenery outside the sim (convenient when updating/reinstalling).

In the Vienna topic I see that there is a beta for P3Dv4, so there is being worked on.

I have a question. How the heck will we ever know the P3DV4 installers are ever released. This site is as stale as the loaf of bread I found in my trunk that I bought in May. Where will it be announced? in the forum, or on the main web page? Damn why bother, no one ever replies from FlyTampa. I feel so alone. Off to the bar!

Perhaps they don't care too much about their previous products which is a shame.

I am sure some people are holding off because of the installers. Could bring them some business if they could be bothered.

That's the situation I'm in. I've looked at the FT airports over the years, bought a couple, but mostly thought 'if only...' as I knew I would be fighting VAS going hub to hub. Now that issue gone (for the time being at least), there are a bunch I would buy tomorrow.

I wondered whether the old ones are simply going to be left as well. That would be a shame, as you say. I hope we're wrong.

It's a shame. I still have a few I'd like to buy, but I won't until they provide an installer and compile it specifically for v4. Everyone else has. I'll still buy Boston and probably Las Vegas, but come on and do something for Kai Tak, Dubai, etc.

Hey FlyTampa: You realize your hard core customers are part of the discussion and have raised several concerns and questions regarding installers, products. You seem to be very silent - frustrating many. Is this the best business approach? We are not asking for the ingredients in the secret sauce, just some feedback on a few issues. It makes me wonder if you are still in business, or a one person operation that smoked too much weed and lost interest in making scenery.

Where are the installers for P3DV4?
BOS, LAS??? anyone home???

This is very unusual. Looking at this from a business angle, many of the top tier scenery developers have initiated a sale of 20-45% off for a week or more. FT has no installers for new customers (P3Dv4), so they're out of the picture and not even competitive for the end of year buying. I can only assume this is more of a hobby than a business for them, and that's perfectly fine. It could be something else entirely but I won't speculate further.

I echo what others are saying here to be honest.

I had things installed in v4.0 with the small updates that were released. When v4.1 came out I tried to move things and use the addon.xml method (so I didn't lose the scenery in the upgrade). Unfortunately I could not get it working right.

If installers are not coming soon, please at least give us step by step instructions, in detail, on how to install things ourselves via the addon.xml method.

Many thanks

IMO, FT is going to loose their outstanding reputation. I am disappointed that they hide and don't answer some justified critics about their installer and update policy. As long as FT behaves this way, I am not sure that I continue my purchase philosophy (buying as soon as published - no matter what ... )
