Poll - FSX or FS9?
I'm going to regret running this poll but here goes....
Please don't start a FSX V FS9 war.

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
Hehe...I really don't know why you did.
By the way, why not an option of "Both." For low and slow GA flying or if I want to have some fun doing the missions, I go with FSX (on minimum settings as my computer is rather old by today's standards) but for the heavy metal, it is FS9.
That said, if I wasn't a college student with better things to spend the money on, I would have invested in a new PC and a bunch of addons for FSX and made that my only sim. However, now that Flight is going to be released (I'd assume within a year from now) and I only use FS during winter and summer break when I am home, I will be sticking with FS9 and purchasing addons for FS9 to tide me over until Flight is released, and we'll see what I want to do from there.
It's a shame FSX was such a poor sim. to start. Obviously, with the advancement of technology and subsequent lowering of prices for "older" technology, FSX can be a pleasure. But if it was a good sim. from the start, out of the box, you bet I would have made the move back when it came out, even with all I spent on FS9 addons.

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
I thought about adding...
Both
X-plane
Bored of them all & waiting for Flight.
I decided on a head to head instead. Just bored tonight trying to do some nightmaps.
Where do you go to college Midget?

Honestly, I'd rather not say. I'd be happy to tell you over email if you wish (shame this board doesn't have a PM system).

No problem. I understand that.
It's my girlfriends birthday & I've been drinking a few.
I'm getting too friendly with the customers again. Must stop that,

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
Although I have both, still sticking to FS9 because I like to fly bigger airliners....
Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
It will be interesting to see how your poll shapes up. Everytime I see one of these I always wonder how accurate they are since some devs claim that FS9 sales are so slow that its not worth developing for, while others say it's about 50/50.
For me personally, since performance in FSX doesn't seem to be an issue anymore with the exception of a few ORBX mega-hubs, I prefer to stick to FSX for all my flying which is about 95% airliners (PMDG and LDS) and 5% g/a and choppers. As long as you guys and Umberto keep cranking out these FPS friendly airports I have no reason to even think about FS9 ever again for airliner flying, which is good since it haven't had it installed for 3 years.

The majority of devs give you both versions, how can they tell which one you bought?cmpbllsjc wrote:...some devs claim that FS9 sales are so slow that its not worth developing for, while others say it's about 50/50.
Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
I run FS9, simply because FSX would be like Tetris
FS9 Performance: 15-20 FPS
FSX Performance: 3-5 FPS
Well, my system is pretty weak and as I'm a student of 9th grade in germany, I simply don't have enough money to buy a new one.

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
I'll add a little insight/food for thought...I've be apart of flight sim since commandor 64 / VIC128 when flight sim came out on Floppy disk..(Yeah, Yeah I know i'm showing my age) I broke away from it and returned during FS95 - FS98, FS2002 & FS2004/FS9. in my opinion FS98 was on than came 2002 with bugs that were mostly resolved in FS2004...
I say this because history repeats so here we find ourselves at FS2004/FS9, FSX , and Flight. Now 8 years since its (FS9) introduction we have the right hardware to run FS9 with all sliders maxed. And I would be remiss if I did not mention incredible improved graphics and an abundance of scenery, addons etc etc.
Some of us; like myself, have invested heavily in FS9 as such it is my preference. Similarly, my flight experience averages at 35 - 49 FPS compared to the 12 - 19 FSX.
I have FSX and scenery too, but honestly I'm not entirely impressed by its textures (outside of the addons like Flytampa - it appears we stepped back) I anticipate we will see the needed improvements in Flight as witness in an sneak preview on airdailyx.blogspot.com
allow me to share these with you thx - FS9

Re: Poll - FSX or FS9?
I actually get very good performance on FSX. An average of 25-40FPS which is not bad. But the features of FSX really feel like more like a console game than a sim. Like the virtual cockpit movement that you cant get rid of among other things. And the graphics feel more like GranTurismo.... My reasons of sticking with FS9 now is more of choice. I just like it better. And with Lionheart still making FS9 aircraft, I went back to VFR flying in FS9 too... So as long as FT keeps up the FS9ning I will keep happly buying it...
