Take off flaps
Take off flaps
Thanks for the input on the Autobrakes guys. SWpilot there is obviously a good reason for not using autobrakes at MDW. Are you able to shed some light?
Perhaps you can also tell me what take off flaps might be used for a typical weight take off.

Re: Take off flaps
SWA is does not currently use autobrakes, it's just a company thing. This may change soon. As far as Flaps, most common are 5 for all 737 types.whartonp wrote:Thanks for the input on the Autobrakes guys. SWpilot there is obviously a good reason for not using autobrakes at MDW. Re: Take off flaps
I've heard they don't use autothrottles either, but if you search for cockpit photos at a.net, both are clearly visable...are they just not allowed to use them? I'd think autobrakes would be essential as a safety precaution when landing on a short runway like MDW's...swapilot wrote:SWA is does not currently use autobrakes, it's just a company thing. Auto throttles are disconnected, and not used. As far as Autobrakes, we use RTO on takeoff but no other setting for landing. The plane is fine without them, as technique and flying a stabilized approach is the most important thing anyway. last year ATA had a 757 put part of its nose through the checkerboard at the end of 31C, and they used autobrakes.
I could never fly with out auto Throttle. That makes me sad cuz I feel now I do it wrong. Today I did KDTW-KMDW, good approach but bad short final, I nailed a tree but still landed on the runway, I get so mad with bad landings, im a cool kid like that. I was doing my autoland and I guess I did something wrong, it just wouldnt keep that glide, bad signal or somthing. Well SWAPILOT, Its good to have a real one here, tomarrow is MDW TO DTW all the way back.

Probably a speed issue. I used to think that some FS9 planes just didn't hold the gs, but I found that more often than not, my VREFs were wrong.David248 wrote:I get so mad with bad landings, im a cool kid like that.
