Here are some infos about Fly-Midway

-----------------------------------------

Hardware recommendations:

Minimum System (not using AI traffic): 2 Ghz processor, 512 MB Ram, Graphic card with 64 MB

Recommended System (using full realistic AI traffic): 3 Ghz Processor, 768 MB Ram, Graphic card with 128 MB

QUESTIONS AND ANWERS (copied from the PDF manual)

Some AI aircraft overrun the runway, crashing trough the perimeter wall before taking off.

The length of the runways at Midway is of course based on real world data. Within a scenery Addon there is nothing that can be done against certain AI aircraft which might require a longer runway. The way to fix this is to edit the respective AI aircraft.cfg file (located in FS2004/Aircraft/XXX/aircraft.cfg) and increase the value for “static_thrust“. Depending on how far the AC overruns the runway increase this value by 10 to 30%.

After installing FlyTampa-Midway, there are double jetways showing at my Chicago O’Hare (KORD) addon scenery.

This is because FlyTampa-Midway includes a tweak to avoid that default KORD objects such as jetways lower the performance at Midway. To avoid problems with Add-on Sceneries for KORD you should set FlyTampa-Midway to a lower level than the KORD Add-on within the Flight Simulator’s scenery library. Alternatively you can also delete the file kord_tweak.bgl located in the FlyTampa-Midway/scenery folder.

Houses around Midway appear gray/untextured.

This means the installation program failed to copy a certain file to its proper location. To fix this please copy the files BLD_flytampa_kmdw.bmp and BLD_flytampa_kmdwlm.bmp from the FlyTampa-Midway/autogen_texture folder to the FS2004/texture folder.

How can I get rid of the static aircraft?

Reinstall the scenery with the static airliners option unchecked.

Whats with these big billboards?

The billboards are there in real life and they are huge. The ads in the scenery are of course fictional. Since the TV series “Married with Children” took place in Chicago we consider Al Bundy an icon of the city. To remove the billboards delete the file cicero_ads.bgl from the FlyTampa-Midway/scenery folder.

Animations are jumpy in FS2002.

Animations are for FS2004 only and the installer program won’t copy them when selecting FS2002. Re-install the scenery using the installer program and select FS2002 during re-install.

How can I increase performance at Midway?

Chicago is a very performance hungry area by default. Some of the performance impact comes from the surrounding city scenery but the biggest impact is caused by AI traffic.
While this is a common source of performance problems at many locations, in the case of Chicago it isn’t so much the AI visual models but the amount of traffic being processed by the Sim both in the air and on the ground at nearby O’Hare, the world’s second busiest airport. When loading Midway at dusk time it isn’t uncommon to find all parking positions taken by AI aircraft and at the same time when looking at the sky you might spot 40 and more planes in the air (flashing stars). Therefore, in case of low performance at Midway the first recommended step is to temporarily deactivate AI traffic altogether in order to see how big the performance hit caused by AI traffic is on your system and if it is worth tweaking your AI. When adjusting your AI traffic keep in mind that it is a good idea to keep an eye on O’Hare as well as the sky rather than aircraft parked at Midway itself. The FlyTampa-Midway scenery itself has a minimal impact on performance and you can check so by temporarily deactivating it in the scenery library and loading the default KMDW. A few unnecessary performance issues have been eliminated by replacing Microsoft’s generic jetways at nearby O’Hare with custom versions as well as piers and boats near Meigs field. To achieve further performance increases please consider lowering the Autogen density to “normal” or “dense”. Although animated scenery features at Midway don’t influence performance much on systems with up-to-date graphic-cars, you can remove them by re-installing the scenery with the options “Animated car traffic around Midway” as well as “Terminal windows and animated passengers” unchecked. Please also look into the next section “Recommended Display Settings”.

-----------------------------------------

KNOWN BUGS

FS2004: Aircraft may “jump” when taxiing south on taxiway Y around G intersection.

This bug not only affects taxiway Y but the whole airport and surrounding area. The reason for this bug, which is also present without FlyTampa-Midway when using only the default Microsoft KMDW scenery is caused by the Flight Simulator file FS2004/Scenery/NamC/scenery/ AP924170.bgl which contains Airport (Afcad) data for the whole region. The bug doesn’t affect aircraft taxiing the opposite direction and runways 22L and 22R have been closed to prevent bumpy landings.

Congratulations on a fantastic scenery. I was very picky of course, but you nailed all of the idiosyncrasies of Midway. From the closeness of the houses on approach to the billboards on Cicero, this is a dead on nailed depiction of Midway. I checked out every nook and cranny of the airport and I can't find anything you missed. Also easy on the FPS. Thank you for the price, as it is worth far more.

Woohoo!
Well, I gotta work this evening too, but maybe I'll buy it tonight after I get home. KDTW to KMDW sounds like a good idea. May have to make such a flight tonight myself.
Thanks for making the one airport I've really been wanting for a long time. You guys rock!

I placed order at least 3 hours ago.

This product looks as if it could be the best scenery add on yet. The other fly Tampa products were good but this looks fantastic.

Delivery times vary depending on 2 factors:

1. How fast your credit card service works.

2. The email address you entered when ordering can have an effect as well:

Quote from the order page: You must use your real email address. Anonymous email services such as hotmail.com, yahoo.com, etc. are subject to extended fraud checking and may delay your order. You may use these addresses in the alternate email field.

Fly-Midway will also be available on Simmarket shortly, they are just setting up the page I think. I will update the link as soon as I hear from them.

Delivery

Post by whartonp » Sat Jun 25, 2005 5:00 pm

Martin,

I used my real email address and my credit card cleared straight away which is why i recieved the ored confirnation with an order number on it.
So i really don't know why this is taking so long.

I have sent you an email to see if you can clear this up.

You might want to take a look at the ftp address that they sent me. Click on it and see where it takes you. I'm not an expert but it seems to me that it took me somewhere i should not have been!

Best regards
