Huge resource hog when using gates

Post by xkoote » Mon Jul 06, 2015 5:22 pm

Hello,

I use Process Lasso and it has an icon in the task bar which graphically tells me the actual resouces being used.
I have noticed that when the gate is being used, my PC resources (CPU / RAM) are near their limits. Frame rates suffer
and the sim gets jumpy. As soon as I CTRL+J the gate off of the aircraft, load drops from 96% to around 35%. Now
I already know that the standard IK jetways in FSX use up resources, but the difference is so large compared to any other
CTRL+J airport I have ever flown to. FS Dreamteam (which is more or less a supporter of IK's instead of letting customers simply buy another software to complete a scenery i.e. AES) say that when using LOD in the scenery design process vastly reduces FSX's resource hog when using IK's. And indeed, when using standard jetways on those airports you hardly notice a performance hit. Now far be it from me to play an expert on scenery design, but I was just wondering if there was still room for change in this area that would allow a smoother running SIM with the gate connected.

Hey Xander,

The jets do have LODs already & are optimized about as much as possible.
They do have lots of extra features over other jetways. Moving wheels that stay locked to ground, flashing rotating lights etc.

I've just checked mine & can't see any noticeable load while the jetway is travelling. Maybe check & see if you have duplicate afcads or scenery installed. Do you have a weaker CPU?
