runway lights on kai tak fsx

Post by alfred muehleisen » Sun Jun 07, 2009 7:53 am

Hello everybody,
This marvellous scenery works great on my fs9.
However installed on my FSX simulator I do have the approach lights at night including taxi lights, but NO runway lights.

Wo's gonna help me

That's just Hong Kong's going green initiative. Plus they thought the extra challenge to pilots wouldn't be that bad.

Did you download & install the FSX version as opposed to just copying the FS2004 version into fSX?

No, no, I installed the fsx version of Hong Kong as it ought to be. So no
copying the files from fs9

And you installed Non-SDK mode I suppose?

Can you maybe post a screenshot at dusk or night so I can see how it looks.

In Non-SDK mode the lights are a bit dimmer then normal FSX runway lights, but not to the point they can't be seen at all.

Hi Martin,
Here are some screenshots.
On the NON SDK one you see een runway underneath it. I don't know from where because the only other sceneries I use are: FS Global2008, Ultimate terrain and Fs Genesis. All of them will not affect airports.

greetings/Alfred

The lights you are missing are those generated by the ADE (Afcad) file. Something seems wrong with it because I can see the runway markings are not even lined up.

Check if you have this file:

FSX/Addon scenery/FlyTampa-Maarten/AFX_VHHX....bgl

The Name varies either AFX_VHHX.bg or AFX_VHHX_aerostat.bgl etc.

Also, which AI traffic are you using? Those can come with their own ADE which overrides ours.

Hello Martin,
I haven't check yet the mentioned files, but the AI traffic is MyTraffic as far is I know. Where do I have to check AI traffic?

What files named "AFX...something" do you have?

There should be at least AFX_approach.bgl. Is that the only one you have?

1. What AI Addon are you running?

2. Do a Search for AFX*VHHX on your whole FSX harddrive. In Windows Explorer browse to C: then type "AFX*VHHX in the textfield on the top-right.

Let me know if any files other then those in Addon Scenery/Flytampa-HongKong/scenery/ are found.
