Version 1.1 Patch (FS9)
Download: http://www.flytampa.org/dwl/FlyTampa_Ho ... ate_11.exe
- Memory Leak fix
- Afcad fixes that caused some users to CTD or not able to load VHHX
- Threshold surface smooth
- AI-Ships no longer need GA Traffic enabled
- Some of the lights go on sooner at dusk (5PM instead of 6PM)
- Checkboard flashing light
- Removed green obstruction light in Kowloon
- lowered red obstruction light for wide-left checkerboard approach
- Added flashing red lights on hills
Note: If you manually moved the landclass file as per "Memory -leak thread" instructions, be aware this Update will add a new FlyTampa-HongKong_LC folder and attempt to add it to the scenery library.

No, the _LC folder should stay untouched. Thats what fixes the memory leak.TJC wrote:Thanks for the update Martin.
Should we leave the LC folder alone or integrate it into the base VHHX folder?
Reason I'm asking is AES is going ballistic since the update, I cann't assign credits to it as its detecting 2 .cfg entries and constantly wants to delete 1, namely the LC folder.
Scenery Config should look like:
1. AES
2. Fly-HongKong
3. Fly-HongKong_LC
4....
Perhaps there is a problem with the layering after the update. If you can, take a look at FS9/scenery.cfg in notepad.
Martin,
As one who has flown the Kai Tak approach for years in earlier versions of FS when testing 747 flight models, let me first say that this is a stunning scenery and I bought it right off without any hesitation! I have ALL the FlyTampa stuff and its top notch!
I had some reservations when I first flew this scenery and was a little disappointed at the quality (and lack of) the terrain mesh around the airport (I considered 9Dragons to be better) and also the total lack of ramp traffic (in marked contrast to your Vienna scenery). But I am assuming that framerate was the consideration here.
I have since flown this scenery a few times now and actually it gets better the more I fly it! Anyway, a big "well done" to you and your Team!
My question - I purchased FlyTampa Kai Tak from Simmarket on 6th July. You are talking about an update here regarding memory leakage. I had no issues at all with Kai Tak, certainly no shutdowns that would indicate memory issues (I flew the PMDG 744 many times). My only issue was on installation where the routine would not "activate" the scenery despite me selecting the option to do so. So, I added it manually. In order to do that, I had to locate it. In the ADDON SCENERY folder, I found TWO folders - FlyTampa Hong Kong and FlyTampa Hong Kong LC. I assumed that the LC folder was LandClass so I activate both these folders in the Scenery Library, putting the LC folder below (lower priority) the main scenery folder.
I have had no issues at all and the scenery is stable and excellent. So, will your patch address issues that I don't have? Or do I have to make changes so that the patch will update correctly and not ruin what so far works for me?
Apart from what I have written above, the scenery is excellent, as I have come to expect from you guys. The quality of the static aircraft is about the best I have seen - although I have to search hard for a parking place!
If I had a wish list, I'd like some ramp traffic (I do understand about FPS but the option to have some would be good) and I would like to see if the default terrain around the airport could be extended and/or bettered to enhance that area. In my humble opinion, this is what gives the dramatic effect of one's first impressions of HK as you arrive there!
Anyway, I have rambled long enough! Well done on another great piece of work!
Kind regards,
Lee James

Mesh is included, the 9D mesh probably has a larger coverage. Check you have the file: /Addon Scenery/FlyTampa-HongKong/scenery/hk_mesh.bglLee James wrote: quality (and lack of) the terrain mesh around the airport
Ramp traffic may become available in forum of a AES update. The reason I didn't include ramp traffic is because all possible paths (roads) intersect with Taxiways and without an advanced system like AES there is no way to control vehicles stopping for Aircraft and so on. They would just crash through each other.Lee James wrote:total lack of ramp traffic (in marked contrast to your Vienna scenery). But I am assuming that framerate was the consideration here.
The patch will add what is listed in the 1st post. The reason you already have the LC folder is that I keep updating the main installers on Simmarket as well. Right now the patch probably doesn't contain much that you don't already have, but as I state in the topic, it is a work-in-progress Patch and more things may get added.Lee James wrote:I have had no issues at all and the scenery is stable and excellent. Hi,
Any possibility of adding the additional lighting along the approach path to RW31? It's situated in the sea along the centerline and is colored red.
There should also be lighting on the island immediately off the end of RW13, and on the west side of the mountains to your right as you fly north to intercept the IGS. Apologies if they're in the update already.
Downloading now!
Best regards,
Robin.

I just bought Kai Tak tonight from Simmarket (for FS9) and it is sen-say-shunal! Fantastic. Just like real life. So far, all loads great and works well.
Two questions:
1. Do I need to instal the patch 1.1?
2. The visual performance is fair at best overflying Kowloon on approach with frames dipping down to single digits. I have TH2G with three LCDs and use the PMDG 747-400. What can I do if anything to increase frames? They're much lower than at any other FlyTampa airport in my collection in FS2004.
Appreciate info/guidance, thanks!

If you are having no problems without then not needed. Keep in mind it is still a work-in-progress patch, as-in beta.JSACKS wrote:1. Do I need to instal the patch 1.1?
Please check the FPS when running on a single screen or windowed mode resized to 1 screen. I guess with a 3x wide horizontal display the amount of city buildings being rendered also increases by factor 3.JSACKS wrote:2. Perhaps post a screenshot so I get an idea of just how much of the cityscape you're looking at.
Ideas to increase performance:
The obvious Install options unchecked, Static airliners can cost quite a bit performance, AI ships too.
Decrease Autogen. If you don't want to do that go to FlyTampa-HongKong/texture/ and move/del all *.agn files. This will get rid of the trees leaving only buildings.
Martin:
Thanks for your posts.
The frames are generally pretty good or better than that but it is purely on approach along Kowloon, from shortly before the Stonecutters NDB that frames drop to around 10 from a range of 14-18 before that point in the 744. The moment I start the turn for 13 by the checkerboard (great to see it back in working order!), frames are restored and all is fine for short final and touchdown.
I think that maybe with Triplehead it is inevitable there is a period of overload on the processor with the thousands (wow!) of buildings below. It is amazing scenery, I must say.
Appreciate your reply. I'll tweak or fiddle a bit more to see about raising the frames but won't kill myself over this.

FYI, I am looking at about 135 degrees of cityscape from inside the virtual cockpit of the PMDG 744. It is a very wide field of vision from a sim PoV. I use a zoom factor of 0.31 with a res of 1280x1024 per screen for a total res of 3840x1024 spread across the three LCDs with an eVGA 7900 GTO card. The video card runs cool (under 60C at all times and generally around the mid 50s), but the processor is obviously taxed even though it is a P4 3.80Ghz. I do all flights in all aircraft exclusively in the VC since the 2D panels are a disaster with Triplehead. The VC view eats frames automatically but there is an additional burden on the processor from all of the cockpit gauge calculations with aircraft such as the 744 (or the Level D 767, etc.)
