Fly Tampa - after SP1.

Post by Dimon » Sun May 20, 2007 5:18 pm

OK, since SP1 has been released, NDA removed, there are some questions for you, Martin and George

1) Any chance that FS2004 products will be updated for FSX.

2) If you're plannig to release stuff - for which platform it would be released - FSX or FS2004?

Thank you

1. Unknown. We are looking into some updates but a massive slew of 2004->FSX scenery updates is very unlikely.

2. New releases will be for both FS9 (for sure) & FSX (whenever possible).

Thanks a lot, Martin.

I'm quite happy with N2, especially due to obvious lack of quality US airports since you've released MDW.

that s awsome. i reinstalled fs2004 just because i wanted to buy your addon flytampa St Maarten that looks like better on FS2004 than FSX just because of the animated vehicules that bring life to the game.

Have you looked into adding animated charaters walking around ? or would it requiers too much memory.

Also if there was one thing i would add to your addon is a custom animated traffic where the user can simply choose in percentage how many animated vehicules or characters they want to see driving or walking around

I think an upgrade would be great. I mean As cool as FS9 is, it does limit the addon in one way-pixels. FSX can have 1 Pixel every 7 centimeter.....looking at the thousands of snapshots of FS9, it does not look like it can do at. Youve got it realistic because of the amount/complexity/realisticnes of the scenery, now all you need is to make every piece of scenery look good individually. At that point, you will literally be "as real as it gets".

Xavier I dont agree with you on the "choose amount of traffic" idea.....The point of the traffic to simulate the actual amount of traffic in that area. Having a slider would make it a "randomn scenery" instead of "scenery that simulates real life"

Just my two cents

In theory fsx can do 7 cm/pixel,( fs9 can do 4.9m/pixel ) but I doubt we will see anythig more than the current 1m fsx photoscenery. The disk space required for 7 cm is insane, and most of the 1m scenery for fsx uses lossy compression, saving space but the image quality suffers. Yes, this is the one area that fsx can kick fs9's ass, but what good is awesome photoscenery with no good add on airports.
The other thing is source imagery, there is not a lot available at 1m , let alone 7 cm.

I just think that FSX is generally better in many ways that would improve Fly St. Maartan and all the other scenery addons.

FSX Maarten comes with a high res Photo for the whole island. It's a 80MB file containing 2 variations (summer day + night) using compression. Look in FSX/Scenery/cities/StMaarten/scenery/

You can simply keep this Aerial + the airport addon by deselecting "PhotoScenery & Disable FSX default St.Maarten" during installation.
