newly upgraded computer to try and run FSX

Post by Danthepilot » Mon May 14, 2007 9:05 pm

Hey guys, just spent some money towards FSX. Here is the following i added:

ECS Motherboard + AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3600
1GB OCZ DDR2 667MHz Memory
Case Antec NSK series W/380 Watt PSU
EVGA Nvidia 7600 GT PCI-E Graphics Card

Any comments about how FSX will run with these new additions, or recommended gameplay settings would help!! Thanks guys!! :D

If this help FSX, then its back to good old FS9 for the next few years until im able to afford even more upgrades.......lol

Frankly, I wouldn't do this upgrade just yet. Now you've got a machine that will be perfect for FS9 but so so (if that) for FSX. You should have waited until the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, you could of got even better CPU or the video card for the price.

Really it depends on what you consider "good" or "acceptable" performance. Some warped individuals think that 10-15 fps is great!!

Don't put your hopes too high. Athlon is far behind Intel right now. I can do the direct comparison between an Athlon X2 4600 and the Intel E6600. Nominally, they're playing in the same league, but the Athlons just can't compete.

1 Gigs of Ram won't get you very far either. It's just not enough for FSX. Same goes for your video card.

As has been said before. A good rig for fs9, but very lacking when it comes to FSX.

i would probably add 1g of ram ;)

You got a Porshe with a set of Truck weels, make sure you buy a nice set of 9 inch so you drive nice and smoooooth :)

ram is pretty much the same, with the spec of your processor and motherboard i would definitivly go for 2g of ram, especially for FSX.

Now that SP1 is release i litterally have max autogen on, max graph textures and buildings, and the game run smooooth :) ( i v pretty much the same config, just a processor a little bit more powerfull, but i do have 2G of ram , and was thinking about buying 1 g more )

I'm amazed at the amount of money people are willing to throw down just to get FSX running. I'm still questioning why it's such a pig...
