Tree Fix - Alternative set of Trees for Prepar 3D 4.5 / Sydney V2
Fixes the over white shading on the Trees in Prepar3D 4.5.

NOT needed for Prepar V5+

To install, unzip the attached file TreeFix-SydneyP3D4.5.zip

Copy the bgl files inside the scenery folder to - Your Prepar3D Folder\FlyTampa\Sydney\scenery
Copy the dds file inside texture to - Your Prepar3D Folder\FlyTampa\Sydney\texture

So installed v2.1 tonight and then extracted the tree fix (P3Dv4.5) - thanks for those

However is the grass texture base meant to have 4 seasonal variants? It seems to be quite a pale green in Summer, Spring and Winter (The winter shade is slightly paler to Summer and Spring which are both the same shade. I feel like i recall the grass being greener in Summer in v1?

I might be wrong, just thought id ask anyway

There are no seasonal textures at SYD.

Hi George. I had a go at your tree fix but all FlyTampa trees still seem pretty pale compared to those dark green ones by ORBX Australia v2.

Also there is a weird "multiple texture" thing going on with your trees.

- P3D v4.5.3
- FT YSSY v2.1 + tree fix
- ORBX AU YSSY *.bgl files are off
- ORBX entries below FT entries in scenery library

There was drastic differences between the trees in 4.5, 5.0 and 5.+
The shader that works best for you 4.5 guys, was the non PBR shader which is basically from FSX. Version 5 plus can't render those in the Fog.

They are crap in 4.5. I think vertex normal is on but the shadow casting creates bad shading on the simple cross shape.
I could edit the BGLs to disable their shadows. The bad shading will go away but they won't cast nice shadows on the ground anymore.

Wanna fix them good, Use P3D V5+. Or MSFS2020. Coming soon.

I do have the same trees looking as FT YSSY v2 mt.jpg posted in this thread.
How to get a better 3D trees for P3Dv4.5? Do I need to reinstall YSSY v2? I have installed v2.1 last night.

It seems that V4 users might as well skip this update, as it seems to be only improved in P3DV5. I love FT Sydney, but still find V1 very good, and as I use P3DV4.5 with no current plans to switch to P3DV5, i will just skip this update, and wait for the MSFS version.

I got an email today from AI Lights Reborn telling me I had a mandatory update to install. I also got an email from TOGA telling me that they had discovered a shader issue between them and AI Lights Reborn and I should rerun my ENVDIR to reinstall my textures / sounds / shaders into P3Dv4 and guess what...I did so and this tree issue has gone.
