Online traffic and FlyTampa scenery
I fly for several VA's, almost exclusively online. I am thinking about buying some FLyTampa scenery. One of the questions I have is: If a person is flying online using FlyTampa scenery, and the other pilots online are using default airports, will they appear to me as taxiing off the taxiways, going into the buildings, missing the runways, etc? Just curious, as I wouldn't want to see that.

Yes, you are correct. The same applies anytime you (or anyone else) is using a different afcad...if the taxiways and such do not line up it will appear that you or the other people are taxiing in the grass.Greg Goodavish wrote:I fly for several VA's, almost exclusively online. Personally I have never found it to be a huge issue when flying online, and I think the benefits of Fly Tampa scenery vastly outweigh this issue.

I would think this would be more of an issue when it comes to parking at the gates, as some planes would be parked inside the terminals, etc.
How do you see other pilot's planes (and how do they see you) if everyone is using different aircraft? For example, if I'm flying the PMDG 738 and another pilot at the airport hasn't purchased it, am I invisible?

Can't speak for IVAO, but on VATSIM with Squawkbox 3, each user has a small file to depict everyone else's planes while you're online. You select your plane (including livery and paint scheme) when you log on and that tells the other pilots which file their computer will use to show your location. I guess it's similar to the AI aircraft files you use in Project AI, etc, but I suspect not nearly as graphically intense.
As for the PMDG 737, if you're flying it, my system doesn't need to know that it's the PMDG version, just that it's a 737 (for whatever airline you chose) and it will create the image and move it around the screen as you move.

Given that a dozen or so PMDG 737s at an airport would probably wreak havoc on any processor, this seems like a good approach.marshallfla wrote: As for the PMDG 737, if you're flying it, my system doesn't need to know that it's the PMDG version, just that it's a 737 (for whatever airline you chose) and it will create the image and move it around the screen as you move.
