FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
Dear FlyTampa
As a user of your fantastic sceneries since FSX, I now recently updated my collection with Corfu, Thessaloniki and Athens. All the sceneries are superb, but since I am also using Orthos for Greece, I have the last week had a lot of trouble using your conversion program. I am pretty well skilled in the area of computers, and I am using the latest version of the conversion and readme file, Still the conversion program doesn’t do the job. The py program starts and recognizes the tile (+37+23), but then it stops. I have tried many different solutions including disabling my security program, but to now help. I couldn’t get it to work with Thessaloniki either, but here I opted for the DEM file which worked ok.
Her is my request: would you please make the new Photopolys4Flytampa files available for download. I see now reason why you couldn’t do so. Alternate make DEM file Athens.
Best regards and greeting from Tromso. Norway!

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
please run the tool this way: press Win+R, type cmd /k and then drag&drop the script into the shell window. It should stay open, after the error occurs. Copy and paste here the error from the window.jalex wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 9:05 am Dear FlyTampa

Tanks for your very quick respons.
Reading one of the threads in the forum, I see that I need to tick a couple of boxes when installing ImigaMagic. Ten minutes ago I reinstalled, and suddenly the conversion program works!! Guess it would be of great help if the readme file also told us to.
Well - the conersion program is working in the background now and I am very excited!
Thanks again for support - and for your great work!

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
Thanks again Yannis!
I am a happy man now! I have tested both Tessaloniki and Athens. Both work great after the conversion. Absolute stunning airports!
My mistake about the readme file. I didn't see the last note in the readme file. However - would it not be better to place this advice as part of the text about requirements and installation of imageMagick??
Keep up the good work!

FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool tile alignment issue
I have recently purchased Athens for XPlane and ran the tool to convert the 37+23 Ortho4XP tile as per the instructions. However I am finding that the 37+23 and 38+23 don't seem to align correctly when viewing the airport at a distance in XPlane - see blue strip in lower portion of the attached image which is a minor blemish on otherwise fantastic scenery.
Basically in the scenery.ini file I have disabled the mesh file provided with the Athens scenery and am using the converted 37+23 tile along with the Ortho4XP tiles for 37+24, 38+23 & 38+24. All my Ortho4XP tiles were created at ZL16.
If I disable the FlyTampa Athens files and the converted Ortho4XP tile, go back to the default XPlane Athens and use all the 4 Ortho4XP tiles then I don't get this alignment issue.
Any ideas to fix this would be gratefully appreciated.

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
Hello every one!
Thanks for the acceptance. I'm a bit confused regarding to which folders should I delete after the conversion.
I recently purchased Athens, and according to the instructions I need to delete the FlyTampa_Athens_2_overlays folder after the conversion is made. I want to ask, should I also delete the zOrtho4XP_+37+023 Folder?
So, the order will be
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/FlyTampa_Athens_0_Airport/
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/FlyTampa_Athens_1_roads/
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Photopolys4Flytampa_+37+023/
??? SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/zOrtho4XP_+37+023/ ???
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/FlyTampa_Athens_3_Mesh/
Also, should I convert +37+024, +38+023, +38+024?
Thanks.

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
Hi All-
Thanks to FT for this tool, which works great. However, I cannot seem to get the mesh around the airport to go away...without turning the dsf off. When I do that, I get the floating buildings, lost bridges. I am sure I am doing something wrong. The tool is run per the instructions (or at least as I think I can comprehend it!!! LOL). I turned off the dsf for the other tiles. But only if I turn off the dsf for the tile at the airport do I see my ortho...but then the floaties :) I have read through this entire post, but do not see anything else I can try. Thank you!! Sorry for the hassle. Love that FT came to XPL....MUCH needed.
Take care all and stay safe!

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
So the old adage of the definition of crazy is doing things over and over again, didn't apply here! :) I did not change a thing...but I just deleted and tried it again and again....and again. On the 4th try it worked. So.....going to just back away slowly from my ghost filled machine! Take care all.dcboyinva wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 7:45 am Hi All-

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
I need to get back to this, as I am still struggling to get the airport properly aligned with the ortho4xp mesh.
I converted successfully the mesh and have the new folder: Custom Scenery\Photopolys4FlyTampa_+37+023/
and also removed the FlyTampa_Athens_2_overlays folder.
Here my .ini layout:
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\FlyTampa_Athens_0_airport/
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\FlyTampa_Athens_1_roads/
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Global Airports/
.
SCENERY_PACK W:\Ortho4XP_1.30\yOrtho4XP_Overlays/
.
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\Photopolys4FlyTampa_+37+023/
.
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\zOrtho4XP_+37+023/
.
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\FlyTampa_Athens_3_mesh/
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\zzz_uhd_global_scenery4/
SCENERY_PACK W:\Custom Scenery\zzz_hd_global_scenery4/
I have tried a couple of other things, not described in the conversion manual, which were mentioned here in the forum:
Regardless, whatever I tried so far, does not fix the bridge areas on the airport.

You will also need to disable three .dsf mesh files. To do this, nagivate to 'X-Plane 11\Custom Scenery\FlyTampa_Athens_3_mesh\Earth nav data\+30+020' and rename as follows:
+37+024.off
+38+023.off
+38+024.off
Regardless, whatever I tried so far, does not fix the bridge areas on the airport.
Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
Hi,
I am facing an extremely weird issue at all the airports I am trying to use the tool at (LGIR, LGAV, LGKR): My Xplane just wont load when I have the photopolys active, it just crashes when loading them. I already tried disabling all other sceneries, all plugins and so on, no luck. Reinstalled the scenery, no luck. Reinstalled the photopolys, also in different zoomlevels, no luck.
I am trying to use a ZL17 Bing tile with a single zoom level.
Attached to this post you will find my log.txt and scenery_packs.ini
Would be great if anybody could help,
thanks in advance
(Using XP11.53 with only parts of the global scenery installed)

Re: FlyTampa Ortho4XP tool
I just used this tool few hours ago for Athens and so far everything looks good. First I had to rebuild this tile all over because I used mixed zoom levels and because I want to have nice looking ground around the airport the only option was to use the ZL17 for the whole tile. Then I used this tool and it took over two hours to make this photopolys folder.
I have airports from other developers that have the option to be used with ortho4XP and the only thing you need to do is to add some patch folder that you just copy to your Ortho4XP/Patches folder and then just make you orthos with mixed zoom levels if you want to. Also then I don´t need this photopolys folder that is 5.65GB (lot of space) and insstall some additional software like imagemagick.
This is much better and user friendly method and I just wanted to point this out.
Still very nice livery.
Thank you.
Edit:
I just discover that I can delete the ortho folders after making these photopolys folders and save some space (not included in the user manual).
