OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
yeah I have never gotten a OOM in fsx. I might just keep FSX for long haul flights and p3d for vfr stuff.
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
I'd like to post my experience in case it will help. Currently, I am at gate 174, in the PMDG 777-200 with 23 frames per second and 1.10 GB of VAS remaining.

There it is. I don't know if this will be of value to anyone or not. Perhaps by comparison, someone might find an opportunity to improve performance. If anyone reads this and has an enhancement to add, please reply.
PS: I turned of FlyTampa CYYZ and used the default airport. There was very little difference in performance. It is a bear of an area. Hats off to FlyTampa for taking on what appears, at this moment, to be a monster.
Cheers

Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
I will try your settings, thank you!
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
Why is LOD so low? just curious. Isnt default 4.5?
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
I have completely disable all the features of vector and I was able to succesfully load into toronto with raptor and using about 2300 mb of memory in process explorer. looks like I will have to do without vector with the 777. I wasnt having as much trouble with the NGX but it uses about 400mb less from what I am noticing.
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
geeze, with pmdg 777 im sitting about 3000mb memory usage for p3d. With vector disabled.
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
Did you guys try disabling RAAS in dll.xml? That saves bout 150MB when using the 777. If you are really adventurous, you could disable the external view of the aircraft. Bye bye OOM, but at a high immersion cost.
EDIT 1:
Regarding LOD radius: yes 4.5 is the default. I was able to turn down both the LOD and scenery complexity, while achieving excellent visuals. The downside is that when arriving at the destination, there is a good chance of scenery degradation and/or missing elements. This should not be seen as a knock against anyone. Now, if and when everybody builds an airport to the standards of CYYZ, we can turn down the settings and it won't matter
EDIT 2:
I am in the process of reinstalling..."again you say...??"
P3D, aircraft, scenery, etc. I won't bore you guys with all the details again, but I will do some research on various settings levels to see if there is any more juice to be sqeezed from the lemon. It will be 777 at CYYZ gate 174. Will also do Aerosoft Airbus for comparison purposes.

Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
Yeah I saw the disabling external model thing. Its a little bit much for me. Seriously for the money we are spending on these addons, we should not required to be disabling features we paid for so that we can utilize the product. I was able to run all these addons in FSX with DX10 tweaker without any OOM issues and I am seriously considering using FSX for long haul flights.
Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
Each to his own of course. I moved to P3D and I'm staying put. Just got everything reinstalled and am going to whack away at CYYZ with the 777. The best I got previously was ~24 FPS with 1.15 GB of address space remaining at the gate...engines off. I'll let you guys know if I can come up with something better.nofaux wrote:Yeah I saw the disabling external model thing. Its a little bit much for me. I know I sound like a FlyTampa fanboy (I'm not), but this airport is amazing. I've never seen anything with this kind of quality. I mean...I could just sit here and look at it.

Re: OOM before airport fully loads P3D 2.5
if we don't get a 64 bit version of prepar3d, then i don't really see a future for flight sim.nofaux wrote:Yeah I saw the disabling external model thing. Its a little bit much for me. i say if you have the the hardware, then you should be able to use all the scenery and weather you want. oh ya, the oom limitation.
thanks to that, flying into new york with full ai traffic is only possible in fs9
