I hope mods will allow-a glimpse into "competition"
No. But what pis**es me off is their odd mechanism of verification prior downloading. Sometimes a digit/letter is totally hidden by some kinda strange Saturn star and you have to simply guess what their intention is. Fortunately, a second chance is givenB777ER wrote:Did you all know that Avsim.ru stole the copyrighted name of Avsim.

Oh boy, can't get enough of it. I can hardly contain my joy anytime the FPS counter goes into double digits. Will SEA work in FSX?skydvdan wrote:So are you flying FSX these days?gunsontheroof wrote:Looks great, I'll have to check that out. Avsim.ru has some great stuff, it's too bad I have such a difficult time navigating it (and for that matter, too bad that my FS9 rig doesn't have an internet connection right now!)
So no then, LOL??gunsontheroof wrote:Oh boy, can't get enough of it. I can hardly contain my joy anytime the FPS counter goes into double digits. I've always known that the thing that would kill America one day is the lack of sense of humor and self-sarcasm. Arrogance mixed with studidity played a bad joke with many people. You should remember this, Eric.B777ER wrote:He is the owner/founder of Avsim so I guess he should know huh? Not wishing to be disrespectful, but a company name is not copyrighted. If anything, AVSIM might be a trademark, but it would have to have been registered as such for any breach of law to occur. I followed the discussion over at AVSIM quite closely and was not convinced that the domain owner had any right to complain, other than the breach of netiquette.B777ER wrote:Did you all know that Avsim.ru stole the copyrighted name of Avsim. Just ask Tom Allensworth. Being that it is in Russia, its almost impossible to get legal action against them.
If AVSIM wants the sole rights to the name, then they must register the name accordingly, and in more than just the US...
Just my 2 cents...
Andrew
PS: Dimon, your post meade me laugh too, I agree with you... posting Tom Allensworth's name without any qualification in this forum as if everyone here should know who he is is a little naive...
I thought it was funny as well. People talk about Allensworth like he's required reading or something. Avsim is just another website. If he wanted sole ownership of the name then I guess he should have bought out all the domain names using avsim (ie: .com, .net, .org, .ru, .de, .us, .edu, etc, etc) as our new friend has explained.alehead wrote:Not wishing to be disrespectful, but a company name is not copyrighted. Nope. I haven't even bought a copy of FSX. Don't plan on it either.skydvdan wrote:So no then, LOL??gunsontheroof wrote:Oh boy, can't get enough of it. I can hardly contain my joy anytime the FPS counter goes into double digits. Will SEA work in FSX?skydvdan wrote: So are you flying FSX these days?
