Re: Saba floating
Sorry my late reply, I can't replicate the issue here.
To analyze it try this.
In P3D/FlyTampa/Saba/scenery/ delete all files except:
TNCS_ADEP4_FLYTAMPA.BGL
ZABA_ADEP4_FLYTAMPA.bgl
cvxSABA.BGL
These are the elevation related files and will leave no visual scenery in place. Start a flight there, see at what elevation in spawns you. Mid-air without visual ground under the wheels, or at 0 sealevel. Then slew away and see if you notice this piece of terrain from your previous shot "pop" up at some distance. It looks like the shape of a runway in your shots, but i don't know why a runway would pop out of the ground as you move further away from the area.

Re: Saba floating
I had a computer failure. Later, re-installed FT St. Maarten in P3Dv4.5 and I found badly elevations in SABA airport. How to remedy that?
Tried version 1.8, 2.0 and 2.1 Now, it is version 2.0 installed.
Still elevations.

Re: Saba floating
Just did a test (P3Dv4.5 and also P3Dv5.3) and found SABA elevations with only the 3 files you listed to give a try.martin[flytampa] wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 6:01 pm Sorry my late reply, I can't replicate the issue here.

What do you think? Maybe another file is needed?
I can do more test for you, no problem.

Re: Saba floating
I have this exact same problem with Saba. Bought recently with St Maarten Complete from the FlyTampa site. I have P3D v5.4, Orbx Global Base, Vector, etc. I've done a search through the complete Orbx library and can't find any reference to Saba or TNCS, nor can I find any file called APT_SABA.BGL referred to by c141fe in an earlier post. The screenshots from my computer appear to show 3 Saba airports stacked one on top of the other. Looking at the posted screenshots, and mine are identical, it seems there maybe an issue with the terrain polygon for the airport. It's like it's set about 100ft too high. I've opened up the TNCS_ADEP4_FLYTAMPA.BGL file in ADE, and it shows two runways parallel to each other about 180ft apart. There is a runway taxipath (but without paving) showing width 12 metres and length 210.1 metres connected to the apron by taxipaths, but it's only got one start position at the northwest end. There is what appears to be a second runway about 180ft northeast of this, but without a runway taxipath or runway start positions, just a line of grey asphalt, 22 metres wide and 390 metres long. Incidentally, the airport properties shows the elevation of the airport as 111.549 ft. The elevation of the stock airport is given as 137.999 ft. Could this cause a conflict?
Any help to resolve this issue would be gratefully appreciated.

Re: Saba floating
OK, I think I've solved this one. As mentioned in my last post, there was a disparity in the elevation (altitude) between the FlyTampa Saba TNCS and the stock version that comes with P3D v5. The stock version has an elevation of 137.999 ft above sea level and the FlyTampa version is 111.549 ft. This seems to cause elevation of the terrain polygon used by FlyTampa, and thus the whole airfield, upwards to the height of the stock airfield, and hence it is floating. This maybe because a small Exclude Specific polygon under the tag "Airport Backgrounds Flatten MaskClassMap Autogen" was not placed in the middle of the airfield to block the stock airport terrain polygon. Probably, the FlyTampa Saba was made some time ago for FSX or FS2004 and converted to P3D, in the meantime Lockhead Martin have made quite a few changes to the stock airports, causing big headaches for developers.
Anyway, whatever the case, I read somewhere that the elevation or altitude of the stock airport and the add-on should be the same, otherwise anomalies could occur, as in this case. So, whilst it looked difficult, and maybe unethical, to alter the elevation of the FlyTampa version of TNCS, which would also have caused disparity with the surrounding scenery, I thought it better to alter the altitude of the stock airport down to that of the FlyTampa version using Airport Design Editor, latest version. This puts a small altitude adjustment bgl into the Scenery/world/scenery folder. This appears to have done the trick, and I have successfully completed a take off, circuit of the island and landing without issues at the FlyTampa Saba airport, and it looks very good indeed. Yippee!
