MSFS version - taxiway edge lights pop-in

Post by airbadger » Sun Oct 08, 2023 1:41 pm

While taxiing around EHAM at night, I noticed that the taxiway edge lights have very noticeable pop-in. Is this something that can be improved?

The edgelights have a pretty good viewing distance setup. what value for objects LOD are you using?

I had Object LOD set to 100. I'll try higher. Is there a recommended level?

100 is pretty good, it shouldnt affect poping in-out much. Do you get similar behavior in other models, like taxisigns, small objects like ground power units etc? or is it only edgelights?

I don't recall those other objects being an issue, it was just the edge lights that really stood out.

My LOD is 190 and while most of the edge lights looked fine it seemed like taxiway V had a noticeable pop-in effect IIRC.

Edit: After another flight I saw the issue wasn't restricted to V -- I think the pop-in effect is most noticeable on reflectors.

Indeed, the pop-in on objects happens at other airports... so yes, it's a MSFS issue... I'm up gauging OLOD from 100 to 150... if it makes any difference...

Hi!!!

I've indeed set the OLOD from 100 to 150. But the issue is still around. What I figured out, is that the pop-in issue must be related to a specific objects.

Because, when I was taxying, the edge lights were popping in, but in the distance, far away, another taxiway lights were right there already.
