Framerates!

Post by SwissairA330 » Fri Apr 30, 2004 6:45 am

Hi guys,

First of all let me congratulate you (Martin) again for such a wonderful scenery. Finally someone thought of us in the Middle East.

Anyway, I have a framerates problem (Martin thanks for your help though). I get about 13-18 fps when using the Dubai Scenery by FlyTampa and a default aircraft (i.e B737) I have FS2002 Pro.

Using the default scenery I get fps ranging from 37-44 changing rapidly.

I have a Pentium 4 2.4GHz/1 MB cache/533FSB
512MB DDR RAM PC2700 (333MHz) running on dual channel
Hercules 3D Prophet 8500LE 128MB (Powered by ATi)

I downloaded the latest drivers for my VGA (Catalyst) and still the same, I guess about 3 fps improvment. But wish such a processor I believe I can get more. Anybody with such problems or ideas of how to solve it?

Ah, I have all FS settings set to maximum and target framerates set to 50.

Thanks :)

Try To do this

Post by alperto » Fri Apr 30, 2004 9:10 am

Dear SwissairA330 .

since Your facing framerate Problem its mean Your PC not getting enough memory From the 512 MB .

Try To Format Your PC and then Reinstall WinXP Final edition , i Think Your using Win98 , cos XP Got the Latest Driver , and try To Install Your Mother Board Driver , and Second thing , Try To Add more DDR Ram To Your PC Make it 1024 MB and i Recommended You To Replace Your VGA Card its Seems and Old , Or get the Latest Driver For it or Buy Geforce5 FX 5600 Ultra 128 Mb , Cos i Got same Your Pc :

P4 2.4 , 1024 MB DDR , VGA 128MB Geforce5 FX OS - WinXP Latest and Updated .

i got 25 on Final Approach To Dubai and Everythings Set Max .

i Hope i Help You Mate

alperto thanks a lot!

I tried everything.
The point is that I had just upgraded my computer especially for FS. I had before PIII650MHz/256KB cache/100MHzFSB

Same VGA card and 384MB SDRAM PC100.

So, this new system of mine is ultra FAST for the old one I had.

I checked giga-byte's website for BIOS updates, and nothing new. I downloaded VGA's latest drivers, nothing changed much,

Well, concerning my VGA I bought it in September 2002 but I do believe a 250MHz GPU with 128MB DDR RAM isn't bad. I'll try borrowing a VGA from a friend and see if it solves the problem.

Also, I had just installed a new clean WindowsXP after my upgrade along with FS2002.

Thanks for trying to help!

Update!

Post by SwissairA330 » Sat May 01, 2004 6:27 am

Thanks alperto and thanks Martin.

I tried my first flight (no inspection this time) and on approach at night I got about 20-26 fps. On short finals I was getting about 17-22 fps. Anyway, this was with Virtual Cockpit view with the aircraft not having VC so everything was just clear infront of me. I think it's my complex A330 panel that does that.

Anyway, I have another question please check out the images below I have decresed the size of the images by 50% for better viewing in the forum.

i Hope You try this SwissAir330

Dear SwissairA330 .

As i Noticed thats your using Free Airplane texture , Not Like the Pss or PMDG Products which its High coded and Detailed .

about the Framerate remember Thats Your PC As i told You not getting enough memory From Your Processor .

You need VGA , DDR , Processor .

Cos when You install Fs2002 or Fs2004 , with To Many Add on and Textures and Alot of Things Remember Your PC Drop about %25 From its Original Power .

let me show You how :

if Your PC Let say P4 2.4 and 512 MB and 64 MB VGA card .

it will Become Like this :

P4 1500 and 128 MB and 16 MN VGA card .

So at lest if You Wanna Good Power Framerate and everythings Set To Max Add More DDR and Replace Your VGA Card and Your Processor should not be less then P4 2.6 . i Hope i Help You  [/img]

Fixed

Alperto,

Everthing is perfect on my computer now. I have about 26 fps on approach to the airport and on short finals I was getting 18-22fps which is good I suppose.

However, my question was why is my plane too dark, you answered it by saying that it's freeware texture.

Well, yes it is, I painted the aircraft. It's the A330-200 by POSKY. But at Zurich it's not like that, the aircraft is lit from the lights in the airport.

Any thoughts?? Martin??

its Texture .

Post by alperto » Sun May 02, 2004 5:46 pm

Dear SwissairA330 .

as i told you its texture thing , i dont have good idea about the texture but from my knowldge there is two kind of texture 32 bit and 16 bit color and there is also macro and API and some of them need to reworked or repaint by fixing the texture bit .

well try to download any repaint for the A330 and try it in the same airport if there light and the plane glow then the problem from your repaint texture ,
if not from the airport texture and the Airport its self .

accept my regards :!:

Swissair: I don't see any of the lights on the side of your plane on. That would make a huge difference in brightening it up. Also your just in a really dark area.

Aircraft as well as AI aircraft NEVER get lit/illuminated within a scenery, noowhere you'll see this happen (Addon or default scenery). Your plan's night texture alone is what gives it the dark look, if you brighten the plane's texture it will be too bright in other areas where there is no light.

Thanks Martin and all for your replies.

So, you've made the static aircraft textures brighter because they're in the airport? Great.

Thanks a lot for your help guys :)

Yes, static aircraft aren't really aircraft, they are part of the scenery and can therefore be textured to match the light conditions of the airport.

Gate assignment

Post by SwissairA330 » Tue May 04, 2004 10:55 am

One more question (sorry I asked too many)
When I landed at Dubai AI ATC told me to go to a certain gate, but then when I went there I found that there's an already static aicraft there. Is it possible to release a AFCAD file with those gates removed? I can make it, but I ask you because you know which gates have Statis aircraft already.

When you select to install with static aircraft, a corresponding afcad file should have been installed by itself. If that didn't work see the folder /FlyTampa-Dubai/af/ , it contains both afcad files for FS2002. If that folder isn't there, reinstall the scenery with the FS2002 option selected.
