EKCH V2.0 SODE and FSLabs A3321 alignment

Post by scotth6 » Fri Apr 17, 2020 7:18 am

Hi,

I am not sure if this is a Fly Tampa EKCH V2.0 issue, a SODE issue, or a FSLabs issue.

I am using EKCH V2.0 in P3DV4. I loaded the aircrat at Gate C30, then tried to use the auto docking function of the jetway, but that said I was not aligned. I then used the SODE VDGS to align myself with the correct position in slew mode, and then the jetway would dock, but the result is a jetway that is not aligned with any door.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

I cannot post the image I have according to forum rules. The right edge of the jetway is about 1m forward of the second left hand exit on the A321. It was supposed to be docked on the first exit.

Cheers,

That's come up in testing as well. I think it most likely is an incompatibility issue between SODE/FSLabs

quick search showed this outdated thread-not sure if any progress has been made since: https://sode.12bpilot.ch/?topic=automat ... abs-airbus

Apparently some editing from the SODE interface can help with this as outlined in this update post https://sode.12bpilot.ch/?p=3120

Hi,

I have been playing around with this tonight, and I have manually added the FSLabs A320 and A321 exit parameters for SODE, and now I can get the jetways to dock on the exits as they should. I am still having the issue where the aircraft never loads in the correct position. It will be OK when I fly to EKCH, as the VDGS should guide me to the correct position, but when I choose a gate from the P3D menu and load my aircraft I am always 10m or more away from where I should be. Gate C30 I was too far back, and Gate B15 I was too close for the gate to connect. I always have to slew the aircraft to get in the correct position for the SODE jetways to be able to connect.

Scott,

The positioning of the aircraft is linked to the AFCAD. So it's there the problem could be.

But then comes the next problem. The position of the gates are based on a AI aircraft position. I've tried as good as I can to make it match the positons, but it's 100% impossible to get correct positions that works for both AI, PMDG, FSLabs, Aerosoft and so on. All of them is a bit different positioning-wise. And the sim can't handle multiple postions for one gate. Otherwise it will begin spawning multiple aircrafts at the same gate. And that is not a good idea either. So I had to use a somewhat precise location. That means that it might not be correct for FSLabs, but will work for PMDG or maybe AI aircrafts.

C30 is made for minimum a A330 as it's typically a gate for that type of aircrafts. IRL it can be used by smaller aircrafts but that can't be handles correctly in the sim. So we have to deal with it.

Of course you can edit the AFCAD to match your aircrafts correct position. It's not impossible to do, but takes a bit to learn how to do. But there are videos on YT showing how to do it.

So to conclude. The positions of the gates are made based on a various number of factors. And not all planes will be parked perfectly. So you might have to live with it, or maybe edit the AFCAD yourself.

Thanks for the explanation Johan. I probably could alter the AFCAD, but as you say moving it to match one aircraft may mess things up for AI and other aircraft. I will leave it as it is. The issue is minor. I have found that the positioning is fine at Gate B7, so I guess some gates will be aligned already and others maybe not. I'm not sure if an A321 will fit in a small gate, I guess it will, but maybe that would work better too.

I guess from your description you did the AFCAD, so fantastic job, from you and the other devs that worked on it. The airport is amazing. You would be happy to know that the AI (I use UTL) is working very well.

I am really enjoying EKCH.

Thanks,

Scott

B7. A typical A321 gate. Great choice!
