Copenhagen v2 terminal textures looking pretty poor - Solved, turn on dynamic reflections!

Post by Emi » Sun Apr 12, 2020 1:33 am

Good morning and congratulations on the Copenhagen v2 release.
I just downloaded it, but my terminal looks pretty poor to be honest. Look at all those reflections in the terminal building:

It looks even worse when all those reflections are "moving" while taxiing.
This is surely not designed to look this way?
Any ideas what I can do to get rid of these weird artefacts all along my terminal textures?

I do not use any external shader addons, but I do use REX Environment Force.

The AFCADs parking positions also do not seem very well placed, Ryanair for instance should park at the CPH Go terminal, which is F1-F8.
In your scenery I see a KLM standing there (which will surely not park at the low cost terminal) while Ryanair parks at the E8x stands.
According to the airports website EasyJet should park at the Go Terminal as well, while in yours they park right on the other side at A20. I've only seen them around Fx as well in real life.
Also there's loads of Lufthansa's parking at remote gates (never seen that in CPH, they're always at the terminal!).

I can see that you have static aircrafts (the 2 small bizjets on picture 2, located between the F14 sign and the LOT Embraer). So what you have to do to get a good AI AFCAD is to unchecked "Static Aircrafts" in the Configuration. That will enable the AI AFCAD, which should fix your AI problems.

For the reflections I can say as a betatester that it didn't happened here and none of the other betatesters experienced it. So it must be something in your system or your settings. Maybe the dynamic reflection setting is too high?

I have seen this before on some other airports when "Dynamic Reflections" is switched off. If you switch Dynamic Reflections on, even just to low, the textures should look much better. The performance hit from Dynamic Reflections is no where near as bad as it used to be, so setting them to low should have negligible effect on performance.

Thank you two, the Dynamic Reflections setting indeed did the trick. Mine was turned off.
Maybe a tipp for the developers to include this in the product manual. Page four, where the necessary settings are highlighted, does not mention Dynamic Reflections need to be on (and still refers to Vegas instead of CPH ;))

Regarding the AFCAD, why would you only include correct gate assignments when there are no static aircraft selected?
Looking at the configurator the static aircraft are only mentioned as a scenery element. There's no mention in there that activating those would activate a different AFCAD with different gate assignments. Why would you do so as a developer anyway and not take the same AFCAD and simply exclude the occupied stands?
Anyway, with the AI aircraft turned OFF the Go terminal now has the right aircraft parking in front of it, thanks again!

Are you using the latest P3D version?
Whether Dynamic reflections are on or off the terminal textures should never look this way. I m seeing too many artefacts, which makes me think something else must be wrong on your setup. Also updated GPU drivers?

When you un-tick the AI option, the AFCAD automatically switches to open up those gates.

Yes, I have the latest P3D version installed.

Puzzled. Never seen that before, or cannot get that reproduced with any setting here.
I would look into GPU drivers, flash your P3D shaders. Also any edits/additions/enhancements to P3D shaders?

GPU drivers are up to date, the P3D shaders get rebuild by REX Environment Force before every simulator restart.
Apart from Environment Force I do not have any shader addons/tweaks.

I think REX EF has a shader enhancing functionality-i wonder if this messes up all the PBR materials when dyn.reflections is set to OFF. Will need to check that, but our materials are using the native P3D PBR template, not much we can change here.
